Eat walk Edinburgh offer two Foodies walking tours. One explores Edinburgh's Old & New towns and the other the lower half of the Royal Mile called the Canongate. On each of these tours you will visit unusual/hidden restaurants, bars and shops, taste dishes specially prepared for you. Sample individually selected drinks (beers, wine and whisky), talk to the chefs/owners and discover the history behind the properties. The Old & new town tour (1pm-4.30pm) which has five food stops with two wine tastings and a single cask malt whisky tasting ensuring you will not need to worry about dinner in the evening. The Canongate tour (10am-1pm) enjoys six stops including a Bloody Mary cocktail and breakfast canapes to get the tour off and running. By the end there will be no need for lunch. The Old & New town tour was recommended in BBC Good Food Magazine as a "Don't miss" thing to do in Edinburgh. Delicious magazine also has it down as a must do.

We were in Edinburgh only a few days so the Eat Walk Edinburgh tour was a great introduction not only to the cuisine of the city but also to the neighborhoods and history. Guide was not only knowledgable but also personable. Tour has my highest recommendation.

Signed up for this tour as an intro to Edinburgh, and so glad that we did! We tried all of the staples of Scotland without having to research where to get the best ones and without having to get a full meal. Alan, our tour guide was excellent, sharing some really great stories about local culture and history, and the... More

I read the reviews before we booked and took everyone's advice and scheduled it for our first day in Edinburgh. We every much enjoyed the tour! The food was good (some things were better than others but that is only because our palettes were not used them--- the dessert was amazing!!!!), the drinks were better and Alan (tour guide) was... Alan Chalmers provides a fast-paced and informative walk through several small establishments where you get to sample salmon, haggis, local cheese, dessert, gin and whisky. In between, he dispenses morsels of knowledge about the history of Edinburgh, pointing out historic sights and even details about architectural features. Alan clearly loves his city and all that it offers to visitors. His... More

This was my second walking food tour I've done now and it for sure will be a staple in any other country I visit, if I can find one. Alan, the owner, led our tour of three (myself, solo, and a US couple), providing an ongoing commentary about the areas we passed. Alan is very knowledgable about the city, its... More

Hi I am glad you enjoyed the tour and very much appreciate you taking the time to write a review. The tour is a good way for solo travellars to meet up with other people to hear their stories and suggestions for other things to do while in Scotland. More

Visiting from US. We checked in to our hotel, dropped our bags, walked to a pub and met Alan. This tour really is a great "1st thing to do" in the city because you learn so much: history, architecture, food, wine, restaurants, locals and get a great feel for the city. Instead of a bus tour, book a walking tour... More
