Description: Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked...
Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked photography tour in Edinburgh, all of Scotland and the number one ranked photography tour in Europe. James Christie is a world renowned and internationally published, professional photographer and he will take you on a four hour walking / photography tour around all the major attractions in Edinburgh's vibrant and famous historic Old Town. Edinburgh Photography Tours Limited have recently been accredited with an "excellent standard" grading by Visit Scotland, Scotland's national tourist board. In addition we have just been awarded TripAdvisor's prestigious Certificate Of Excellence for the year 2015, our fourth year in a row winning this award. We are also ranked as number one of all tours in Edinburgh by USA today. James Christie has established himself as one of the leading photographic instructors in the world with plaudits from all over the globe. As a native of Edinburgh, James will provide an historical account of each attraction visited. His goal is to help you get the best from your camera (SLR, DSLR, Bridge, Compact, even your smart-phone) and show you how to compose professional, iconic shots of Edinburgh. If your camera has the ability to shoot in manual mode, James is confident that after four hours with him, you will never go back to any of the programmable modes ever again. James shows you how to take each photograph and guarantees that each participant will take home professional, iconic images of Edinburgh that can be displayed and enjoyed for many years to come. The tours are aimed at all levels of photographer, from absolute beginner to experienced professional. James does not use confusing jargon, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is friendly, patient, polite and encouraging. Edinburgh Photography Tours were established in 2010 and have been operating successfully for four years. We work very hard to ensure our clients have a first class experience on our tours and we continue to strive for excellence every day. The tours start at 10am daily (Monday - Sunday) and last approximately 4 to 5 hours. The cost of the tour is £50 (with a maximum of 10 participants per tour) or a four hour One-To-One session can be booked for £400 (Please e-mail James for further details). Please note: Our Tours always go ahead whether we have one person booked or the maximum of ten people. Tours start in front of the National Monument on Calton Hill at the east end of Princes Street, access can be gained from Waterloo Place and you will always be tutored by James Christie.

My wife and I did this tour and were very pleased. James was an excellent tour guide/ instructor and patiently worked with everyone. He was able to help those using their cell phones and others that had only long focal length lenses even though he does recommend folks come with a wide angle to medium distance lenses and better than... I went on this tour with James and Meredith from North Carolina on Thursday and I can say that I learnt loads. James was fantastic in guiding us through using the manual settings on our cameras enabling us to take more control of our own photographs . I now do not want to go back to presets again! I went... This tour is an absolute DO NOT MISS!! James is an incredible photographer. That's easy to see from his pictures. More importantly, he is an incredible instructor. He really takes the time to teach YOU how to use YOUR camera. He explains the functions of a camera in a way that actually makes sense (unlike the countless books I have... More

My boyfriend had been given a SLR for his birthday so we decided to go along for the tour as a way of learning how to use it. What a wise move we made! I had only read good reviews on here and I always worry that tours just won't live up to the potential - but I would not... More

A great way to see the city, learn some of the history, get to know your camera better AND take wonderful images. James led our group to the best places to get great shots - and made sure we all got them. His style is relaxed but professional. He explains things clearly and has wonderful patience. Wear comfortable shoes -... More

James's tour round Edinburgh is a fantastic way to see the city and some more unusual viewpoints which are all explained very well indeed. Great photo tips from an experienced, knowledgeable photographer who gave the group a very enjoyable and informative tour. To be highly recommended.

James is incredibly knowledgeable about cameras and about Edinburgh. He has a very relaxed style and makes everything easy to follow. His 'penny drop' moment worked for me, and I've been on manual mode ever since. A very instructive and enjoyable 4 hours.

I was lucky enough to be part of James' tour during a brief solo jaunt up to Edinburgh while visiting friends in London. James was patient, personable, and taught me so much about my camera, whose settings I'd hardly touched before! I learned to take gorgeous photos and learned an enormous amount about one of my favorite cities in all... More

The best way to see and photograph beautiful Edinburgh is with James, no doubt. I use his photo tips daily, so privileged to see it and hear all about Edinburgh from a local pro. Hands down, the best euros I spent.

I cannot speak highly enough of James' tour. I wish I had done this when I first got my SLR but better late than never! A fantastic combination of history, looking at Edinburgh from different perspectives and of course teaching us to take control of the camera and learn to use manual mode properly. Thanks again James!
