Description: Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked...
Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked photography tour in Edinburgh, all of Scotland and the number one ranked photography tour in Europe. James Christie is a world renowned and internationally published, professional photographer and he will take you on a four hour walking / photography tour around all the major attractions in Edinburgh's vibrant and famous historic Old Town. Edinburgh Photography Tours Limited have recently been accredited with an "excellent standard" grading by Visit Scotland, Scotland's national tourist board. In addition we have just been awarded TripAdvisor's prestigious Certificate Of Excellence for the year 2014, our third year in a row winning this award. We are also ranked as number one of all tours in Edinburgh by USA today. James Christie has established himself as one of the leading photographic instructors in the world with plaudits from all over the globe. As a native of Edinburgh, James will provide an historical account of each attraction visited. His goal is to help you get the best from your camera (SLR, DSLR, Bridge, Compact, even your smart-phone) and show you how to compose professional, iconic shots of Edinburgh. If your camera has the ability to shoot in manual mode, James is confident that after four hours with him, you will never go back to any of the programmable modes ever again. James shows you how to take each photograph and guarantees that each participant will take home professional, iconic images of Edinburgh that can be displayed and enjoyed for many years to come. The tours are aimed at all levels of photographer, from absolute beginner to experienced professional. James does not use confusing jargon, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is friendly, patient, polite and encouraging. Edinburgh Photography Tours were established in 2010 and have been operating successfully for four years. We work very hard to ensure our clients have a first class experience on our tours and we continue to strive for excellence every day. The tours start at 10am daily (Monday - Saturday) and last approximately 4 to 5 hours. The cost of the tour is £50 (with a maximum of 10 participants per tour) or a four hour One-To-One session can be booked for £400 (Please e-mail James for further details). Please note: Our Tours always go ahead whether we have one person booked or the maximum of ten people. Tours start in front of the National Monument on Calton Hill at the east end of Princes Street, access can be gained from Waterloo Place and you will always be tutored by James Christie.

A very interesting and informative tour by an obvious expert in photography. the advice control of camera settings, i.e. shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings was invaluable. The added advice on see what your looking at was also a great help.

Fantastic tour, James is an extremely talented and interesting photographer. His tour shows you a side of Edinburgh you will not see in any other and his instructions will give you results you will not find anywhere else. He caters for all levels of skill and equipment and was happy to adjust his directions and instructions to cater for my... More

An excellent tour. I went from pretty much a complete novice with a camera to being able to select aperture, shutter speed and ISO values 'by eye' over the course of the 5 hour tour. James is a great teacher, he doesn't overwhelm you with jargon and gives you a step by step introduction to your camera and the wonderful... More

James’s Photo tour is an excellent way to spend a day walking around Edinburgh. This is very much a weather dependant activity so prepare accordingly and be ready to snap if it might rain. As a beginner I found this a good way to learn more about how to correctly use a camera and take good photos. My only suggestion... More

It turned out to be a private tour for me because I was the only one who booked that day. James was awesome and even modified the tour little bit to fit my preferences. I got some great tips for photographing but also learned a lot from the city and its history. There isn't much to say that hasn't been... More

1st review for me - well worth it. James pitches his tour with a great mix of anecdotes, obviously a passion for his city and matched by his enthusiasm for his camera work. No more point and shoot... Think and look around need to be in the mix somewhere... James provides the low key but essential information for you to... More

James Christie runs a fantastic tour of Edinburgh. I've lived in the city all my life and there were loads of views and interesting things I wasn't aware of or just hadn't notice. the photography tips were invaluable to me as an amateur and I was amazed at the difference minor adjustments made to my pictures. the tour lasted almost... My first ever review on trip advisor, I had to let everyone know that James' tour is awesome, he brakes photography skills down so that anyone can understand. The pics I was taking that day are "skill wise", my best yet and that's all because of James's instruction. His knowledge and stories of Edinburgh are also very entertaining and the... More

The tour with James merits my first review on tripadvisor. I had signed up and was lucky enough to be the only person that day. The forecast that Friday was for snow but we ended up getting some cracking weather (cold and clear). Being a local to Edinburgh for almost five years now, James was able to share a lot... More
