Description: Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked...
Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked photography tour in Edinburgh, all of Scotland and the number one ranked photography tour in Europe. James Christie is a world renowned and internationally published, professional photographer and he will take you on a four hour walking / photography tour around all the major attractions in Edinburgh's vibrant and famous historic Old Town. Edinburgh Photography Tours Limited have recently been accredited with an "excellent standard" grading by Visit Scotland, Scotland's national tourist board. In addition we have just been awarded TripAdvisor's prestigious Certificate Of Excellence for the year 2014, our third year in a row winning this award. We are also ranked as number one of all tours in Edinburgh by USA today. James Christie has established himself as one of the leading photographic instructors in the world with plaudits from all over the globe. As a native of Edinburgh, James will provide an historical account of each attraction visited. His goal is to help you get the best from your camera (SLR, DSLR, Bridge, Compact, even your smart-phone) and show you how to compose professional, iconic shots of Edinburgh. If your camera has the ability to shoot in manual mode, James is confident that after four hours with him, you will never go back to any of the programmable modes ever again. James shows you how to take each photograph and guarantees that each participant will take home professional, iconic images of Edinburgh that can be displayed and enjoyed for many years to come. The tours are aimed at all levels of photographer, from absolute beginner to experienced professional. James does not use confusing jargon, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is friendly, patient, polite and encouraging. Edinburgh Photography Tours were established in 2010 and have been operating successfully for four years. We work very hard to ensure our clients have a first class experience on our tours and we continue to strive for excellence every day. The tours start at 10am daily (Monday - Saturday) and last approximately 4 to 5 hours. The cost of the tour is £50 (with a maximum of 10 participants per tour) or a four hour One-To-One session can be booked for £400 (Please e-mail James for further details). Please note: Our Tours always go ahead whether we have one person booked or the maximum of ten people. Tours start in front of the National Monument on Calton Hill at the east end of Princes Street, access can be gained from Waterloo Place and you will always be tutored by James Christie.

The tour with James gave me a great insight on how to use my DSLR camera. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and also about the history of Edinburgh. He took the time to check everyones photos and made sure everyone understood before we moved on. This tour is great for everyone whether you live in Edinburgh or are... More

This was an outstanding experience for both my wife and me. James is both enthusiastic and passionate about his profession, which made the tour so enjoyable. Not only did he make the tour interesting by relating interesting facts and stories about the sites we visited, his knack for sharing his knowledge of photography in a simple and understandable manner had... It was an awesome experience having a wonderful day with James, in spite of having a rainy day, James made the most out of journey by showing the extra ordinary brilliant camera operating Technics taking us to some most stunning sight scenes of the city from where we can get the outstanding snaps from whatever camera, not just that also... James quite obviously loves his job and Edinburgh. He was patient and gracious and knew some interesting facts about the town that surprised even the locals on the trip. I had some difficulty hearing him and could have benefited from a bluetooth speaker setup or have James walk backwards while talking. (smile). I'd definitely recommend this trip for amateurs who... All I'll say is thank you James I absolutely loved the tour today! I learned so much about my camera and my camera. Really good pace so we got to learn about lots of ways to compose a photo with a great variety of historical subjects. James made everyone feel so welcome straight from the start and somehow managed to... More

I bought myself and my dad places on James' tour as a birthday present. Both amateur photographers with a few years under our belts, we were looking for a tour which would give us the opportunity to learn from a professional. This tour delivered on every front. James is a hugely engaging, informative and helpful guide, full of knowledge about... More

What a wonderful way to spend the day. James is a fabulous photography tutor and a great tour guide. We walked all over the city getting views of the city I know I would not have found through my own wonderings. You don't need to have a fancy camera to take the tour. So much of what he teaches you... More

I can only say what others have said before me, I really enjoyed the tour and learned lots. It was great to get instant feedback on the pictures we took giving us the opportunity to retake the picture if it wasn't quite right, I have been on other group lessons where the pictures are reviewed at the end of lesson... From start to finish this was an excellent tour where we learnt primarily about how to get the best from our cameras but also about the history of Edinburgh. I was amazed at the things I hadn't noticed or didn't know about the city I've called home for many years now. James clearly has a real passion for photography and... More
