Description: Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked...
Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked photography tour in Edinburgh, all of Scotland and the number one ranked photography tour in Europe. James Christie is a world renowned and internationally published, professional photographer and he will take you on a four hour walking / photography tour around all the major attractions in Edinburgh's vibrant and famous historic Old Town. Edinburgh Photography Tours Limited have recently been accredited with an "excellent standard" grading by Visit Scotland, Scotland's national tourist board. In addition we have just been awarded TripAdvisor's prestigious Certificate Of Excellence for the year 2014, our third year in a row winning this award. We are also ranked as number one of all tours in Edinburgh by USA today. James Christie has established himself as one of the leading photographic instructors in the world with plaudits from all over the globe. As a native of Edinburgh, James will provide an historical account of each attraction visited. His goal is to help you get the best from your camera (SLR, DSLR, Bridge, Compact, even your smart-phone) and show you how to compose professional, iconic shots of Edinburgh. If your camera has the ability to shoot in manual mode, James is confident that after four hours with him, you will never go back to any of the programmable modes ever again. James shows you how to take each photograph and guarantees that each participant will take home professional, iconic images of Edinburgh that can be displayed and enjoyed for many years to come. The tours are aimed at all levels of photographer, from absolute beginner to experienced professional. James does not use confusing jargon, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is friendly, patient, polite and encouraging. Edinburgh Photography Tours were established in 2010 and have been operating successfully for four years. We work very hard to ensure our clients have a first class experience on our tours and we continue to strive for excellence every day. The tours start at 10am daily (Monday - Saturday) and last approximately 4 to 5 hours. The cost of the tour is £50 (with a maximum of 10 participants per tour) or a four hour One-To-One session can be booked for £400 (Please e-mail James for further details). Please note: Our Tours always go ahead whether we have one person booked or the maximum of ten people. Tours start in front of the National Monument on Calton Hill at the east end of Princes Street, access can be gained from Waterloo Place and you will always be tutored by James Christie.

A very informative and educational tour. Even as an experienced photographer I received some very valuable hints, tips and advice through James reviewing photos taken along the way. I have been to Edinburgh a few times and had not seen half of the places on the tour and throughly enjoyed it. James is very knowledgeable about the city and I... More

I booked this for a family member's birthday present (one of those great gifts where you get to join in!) and we were both delighted. Despite having lived in Edinburgh and knowing the city well, the tour covered new ground, including fascinating stories and anecdotes on the way round, and included areas off the beaten track. James was engaging, interested... More

This tour was excellent. James brought photography alive with a few simple settings. Added to this was his knowledge of Edinburgh and some aspects of its history along the the way.

I was not sure what to expect from this tour as I'm just a beginner, I was incredibly impressed with James. He was a fantastic teacher and made the tour so interesting. It was not over complicated and I felt I came away from it having learnt not only a lot about photography but also a lot about Edinburgh. I... More

This was not just a photography tour around some iconic sites in central Edinburgh but an awakening of what is achievable through using some relatively basic procedures. James also supplied our group with some valuable information on the history surrounding the subjects being photographed. He was a superb instructor with ample patience for those, like me, who needed a bit... More

James is a fantastic tour guide and photography teacher. He was very personable and very informative throughout the tour; I finally feel confident shooting in manual mode! The length and pace of the tour are just right as well. Overall a great day in Edinburgh; I'd definitely recommend his tour!

I have never been on a tour or seen a tour like this before. James is incredibly passionate about the city and helping you to become a better photographer. He is both knowledgable about the history of Edinburgh and extremely personable. By far one of the best days I spent on my trip to Scotland and absolutely the best money... More
