Description: Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked...
Established in 2010, Edinburgh Photography Tours is the number one ranked photography tour in Edinburgh, all of Scotland and the number one ranked photography tour in Europe. James Christie is a world renowned and internationally published, professional photographer and he will take you on a four hour walking / photography tour around all the major attractions in Edinburgh's vibrant and famous historic Old Town. Edinburgh Photography Tours Limited have recently been accredited with an "excellent standard" grading by Visit Scotland, Scotland's national tourist board. In addition we have just been awarded TripAdvisor's prestigious Certificate Of Excellence for the year 2015, our fourth year in a row winning this award. We are also ranked as number one of all tours in Edinburgh by USA today. James Christie has established himself as one of the leading photographic instructors in the world with plaudits from all over the globe. As a native of Edinburgh, James will provide an historical account of each attraction visited. His goal is to help you get the best from your camera (SLR, DSLR, Bridge, Compact, even your smart-phone) and show you how to compose professional, iconic shots of Edinburgh. If your camera has the ability to shoot in manual mode, James is confident that after four hours with him, you will never go back to any of the programmable modes ever again. James shows you how to take each photograph and guarantees that each participant will take home professional, iconic images of Edinburgh that can be displayed and enjoyed for many years to come. The tours are aimed at all levels of photographer, from absolute beginner to experienced professional. James does not use confusing jargon, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is friendly, patient, polite and encouraging. Edinburgh Photography Tours were established in 2010 and have been operating successfully for four years. We work very hard to ensure our clients have a first class experience on our tours and we continue to strive for excellence every day. The tours start at 10am daily (Monday - Sunday) and last approximately 4 to 5 hours. The cost of the tour is £50 (with a maximum of 10 participants per tour) or a four hour One-To-One session can be booked for £400 (Please e-mail James for further details). Please note: Our Tours always go ahead whether we have one person booked or the maximum of ten people. Tours start in front of the National Monument on Calton Hill at the east end of Princes Street, access can be gained from Waterloo Place and you will always be tutored by James Christie.

This is by far the best tour in Edinburgh and certainly the most useful tour I've ever been on. James is a photographer with many years of experience. I was figuring the tour would be mostly centered around how to take good photos, but James also knew all the historical details about the locations we visited. I would equate this... More

the instruction sent out before the tour was highly detailed and very informative. James listed what you need to bring, where the tour starting and ending point, time frame and all other miscellanies information. simply following his instruction then you will be good to go. I had some questions regarding my train right after the tour and he was able... More

James was an excellent guide, story teller and photography mentor. His four hour plus tour of old Edinburgh met all of our expectations and then some. He lead us to iconic places but helped us with unusual, out of the ordinary perspectives of them. The result was good photography and surprises along the way. Janet and Tom from the June... More

James is obviously very passionate about his photography. Very professional, no matter what camera you turn up with he seems to be knowledgeable on it. His storytelling is both interesting and amusing. I was embarrassed to say some of the places he took us I had never been and have stayed in surrounding Edinburgh all my life. I would recommend... This tour and photography lesson was absolutely fantastic! I learned so much about how to take better photos, that I wish I would have learned these tips 5 years ago when I bought my camera. I agree with the other reviewers that after today, I will no longer have my camera in anything but manual mode. James is a wonderful... More

James Christie is also a very mean person. During his 5 hour tour he constantly lets you take photographs, checks them thoroughly and if they're not as should be lets you take them again...and again...and again..til they are perfect. Why? Because James has a passion for what he does and wants you to really LEARN from his tour! Actually..above didnt... More

It was a fabulous walk with James and my camera. I am Ukrainian girl who is extremely interested in taking good pictures. Unfortunately I did not have any opportunity to start studying photography. So this is my hobby. My husband made a present for me - a walking tour with James. It was very informative, interesting. James knows lots of... More

We'll what can I say ,the whole 4 hour one on one was fantastic . The day started with a bacon roll and a coffee and a brief from James on what we cover on the lesson. I leaned all about using neutral density filters, Macro lenses, use of flash guns and composing pictures . I did the 4 hour Tour... More
