What a boring 'attraction'! This was the biggest waste of money on my entire trip around Europe/UK!!!! Entry was expensive, the grounds were closed and there was scaffolding around the outside of the palace. There were works happening all around, so you had to walk around workmen to see anything. You see very little inside too. The audio guide was... more

I really enjoyed the Palace. We got the audio guides and found them very well done - informative and entertaining. They take you through the courtyard, to the State rooms and then to Mary, Queen of Scots rooms, which were my favorite. I thought Mary's rooms were amazing. Afterward we toured the ruins of the Abbey - such a shame... more

Although the price of admission is a bit steep, Holyrood is still an interesting property. Any fans of Mary Stuart, or Charles Edward Stuart will especially enjoy a tour of the Palace, since both of those figures, and Queen Mary in particular, spent time at Holyrood. The admission includes an audio tour, which is nice, and you get to tour... more

I expected much more, particularly given the price! There was an audio guide, but in one of the rooms the guide said nothing at all about the room, but proceeded to tell you... more

When we arrived at Holyrood, I thought the price seemed quite steep to get in. However, our tickets included a marvelous exhibit of art collected by the late Queen Mother plus admission to the palace and grounds. Also included was an audio guide for the art gallery as well as the palace. All of that made it seem like a... more

The guide was very enthusiastic, often hinted of the very colourful events and lives of the people that lived there. It rubbed off on us. The palace doesn't quite fit with what you would expect of royalty, but its beautiful, with old wooden floors, and secret passageways. The grounds are fabulous and the gates to Holyrood are some of the... more
