If this was meant to be a guided history tour then fair enough, but the theatrical guide checking his not too hidden watch was too much, and as for posing for the photo which might ave hidden ghosts should you want to purchase it from the gift shop...no!! We wanted history with overtones of scary, the history we got, the... More

One of the attractions that impressed me most in Edinburgh. Walking the old and very norrow closes of Edinburgh. That is history really still living. You feel really in the old times and not in the museum. Great.

Really easy to find on the Royal Mile, and well advertised all over the city of Edinburgh, we thought we'd give it a bash one evening whilst on a short stay in the city. You can just pop in and book your time slot in advance, so although it seems busy, there is no huge queue. They also only take... More

I've been to Edinburgh many times on business and always wanted to learn more about its history and in particular to experience this. A trip for the Tattoo to celebrate my mother's 70th afforded the opportunity. A brilliant tour, in this instance (25/8/14 @3.15pm) conducted by Chris T masquerading as a medieval (I think) merchant who resided in the Close.... More

Amazing attraction in the center of Edinburgh. You actually go back to the 17th century. Well explained and detailed, you learn lot of things. Thanks a lot to Paul, the guide from Valencia (great guide).

We saw flyers and ads for this all over Edinburgh and decided we had to visit; it's not as amazing as I expected. One guide and not several costumed guides as seemed from the advertising. Nice if you have the time but not a must.

Re-visited after a gap of around 10 years or so - there is little you can do to improve the physcial experience of walking through history, but our guide, Andy, made the tour fun, educational, scary and really enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend as part of a visit to Edinburgh to discover some of the town's history from day to day life.... More

The remains of the close are situated under a 20th century building and are reached down a long flight of steps. The tour guide tells the story from the perspective of someone who lived and worked there. It is a glimpse of what it must have been like to live and work in a very overcrowded, unsanitary, dark and grim... More

This was one of the top 'Things to Do' on our list so maybe our expectations were too high because we were slightly underwhelmed with the whole experience. In reading other reviews, I think our tour guide may have been the problem. There was no laughing or lightheartedness on the tour, although the guide did have a lot of information.... More

I took eight teenage girls to this amazing place. Having been before with my own three kids I thought they would appreciate a different approach to learning about history and they loved it! We had a very funny guide who made the whole experience very memorable, as the lasses said when we finished " we'll remember what he told us... More
