This was great fun, going back in time with our actor guide (playing a maid) and getting to walk through the actual rooms that people lived in. We heard great stories, some of them gruesome and gory, dealing with the plague, others suitably creepy. A real point is made about the living conditions back then, and you can't help but... More

Ive been on this twice and each time its ever so slightly different. Our guide (Andrew) was an entertaining and informative guide. You learn a lot about Edinburgh of old and how it must have been in those times. I booked online and it was no bother. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact there were no souvenir... This is brilliant! We had a lovely Yorkshire lass walk us through the close, she made it both amusing and informative. It's a fascinating view of the city that you wouldn't believe until you saw it. Well worth visiting.

A group of 3 friends in our late 20's visited early last Saturday eve with our guide 'Agnes Chambers' (Mel). I say a group of friends in our late 20's because I think it is great for any age! The tour goes by super quick so make sure to make the most of it! Our tour guide Mel was absolutely... More

When in Edinburgh ensure you make time to book a place on the tour of Real Mary Kings close. Limited to 20 places a tour and a tour lasts approximately 60 minutes. A well informed guide will take you through a semi interactive tour of this peculiar and very unique attraction. Make sure you take down a present to appease... More

Went with my partner for the 1 hour tour and it was worth it!. The tour takes you through the underground streets of old Edinburgh to see how people lived a few hundred years ago. A lot of the old architecture is preserved and the tour guide (Chris T) was very informative, funny and entertaining. however I can imagine that... More

Definitely worth the visit. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and quite the actor- perfect for his job. It was a great insight into all those years ago regarding housing and the plague. The stories were interesting and being able to see the old streets that once were was pretty cool.

The tour of the closes was absolutely fascinating and we were stunned by how much has been preserved. Tours are taken by 'characters' who lived in the close and the girl that took our tour was really informative but also friendly and funny, staying in character throughout! I was so disappointed when the tour came to an end and I... More

our tour guide was definitely lacking in any enthusiasm which made this tour painful. I came on this 8 years ago and there seemed to be so much more information on the city itself, history, ghosts etc. it all seems to have been dumbed down. What a shame.

Booked the tour online and went with friends. It was great. Really interesting. Our tour guide was great. Really made it feel real. Sorry didn't get his name to give him a special mention. Well worth a visit.
