Wanted to review this again as it had been a while since we last visited. If your in Edinburgh a great place to pop in for a drink and some good food. The cocktail list is really cool broken into sections with a reward programme, drink all the coctails in a section and you get a T shirt to commemorate... More

Enjoyed the drinks. Saw the sign as thought we would pop in for a nosey. Service was good. We did read reviews and get the advances warning on the toilets which was worth it. Although it is funny and interesting to watch as others stumble about trying to find them. Great idea and concept.

Gothic! Go to the toilet before you get desperate, they're hard to find! And when you do find them be careful what you wished for :)

We arrived to try and meet up with a social group that had named the Jekyll and Hyde as their meeting point. My partner and I had barely entered the pub when my partner who is 26 and clearly looks above the age of 25 was asked to provide ID. When it was explained that he did not have any,... More

I've been coming to Jekyll and Hydes a couple of times a year (I'm from Glasgow) for about 8-9 years now. I've always loved it. It was great for a pre-gig meal and drinks. I've always brought new people along each time I've visited because I knew they'd be impressed. I went yesterday for the first time in a year... More

This place is just so weird but wonderful...I loved it! The prices are brilliant, especially for students. We only went for drinks at a quiet time, but I definitely want to go back when it's busy. And yes, you did see the sign for the toilets in the correct place. And yes, you will probably go into the wrong one... More

Pub is great and atmosphere was ok. But the staff are all rude, patronising and obnoxious! Could not have been more disappointed! Prices were ok for Edinburgh! But the staff were just a joke! There were 9 of us spending a lot of money and will NEVER be back!

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
