The cocktails are the main attraction here (especially the ones named after the seven deadly sins), and they're pretty creative! The atmosphere is quirky, and the pub isn't far from the town center. The food is probably a little above average for pub food, though nothing amazing. On a side note, the time I was here I felt the toilets... More

Great pub, lots on offer, and it looks beautiful inside. Just don't go if you're in any kind of a rush. Took me well over 20minutes to get served. Not because it was busy, just because there is only one person behind the bar and she had cocktails to make. Not great but loved the pub overall!!

Staff were friendly and drinks were OK priced for Edinburgh. We got the sharing platter which was a mistake, garlic bread was undercooked, 2 small chicken strips, 3 tiney duck wraps from Iceland, a saussage and 5 fish sticks, all in all was not worth the £10 we paid for it. We couldn't order drinks from our table, even though... More

Have been here a few times, it's always really busy. I came for a friends birthday and we all got a selection of cocktails which were very well priced and tasty!

Being an Edinburgh lass and worked in Edinburgh for quite a few years, this had to be my choice to show those who hadnt experienced The Jekyll and Hyde before just how fun this pub is. After our meal at Mr Basrai last weekend , we had after dinner drinks here. The atmosphere is strange and some may say weird...I... More

My favourite pub in Edinburgh. Great music, great cocktails and great atmosphere. Unique layout and theme, which carries to the hidden entrance to the bathrooms. Can't wait to return!

Often drop in here for a bite to eat (normally Hunters Chicken only £10 for two big plates) and it never fails to live up to expectations. Gothic decor adds a touch of fun and something just a bit different from the norm. Staff generally really friendly, particularly the guys, and service fast.

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
