I love and miss a good pint so arriving at this wee curiously quirky pub to find not only a scrumptiously pulled cold and tasty pint of beer..but also to discover the price is phenomenally cheap for a City Centre (at only £2.20) has me regaling with pure gratification.... Better still because I ordered food (burger & chips) to my... More

Nice music, nice decors, nice staff. The prices for the drinks are more than ok, not to mention that they offer student discounts.

Took a large group of friends here. Olivia was brilliant at arranging this so thank you. Staff were friendly and really quick service at bar. Good atmosphere. Food was great value. Can't recommend highly enough. Deservedly a legendary place to visit in Edinburgh

From the outside it's looking tiny but it's a huge place with many lounges to sit and have drink. Nice decor.

Visited here whilst on a trip to Edinburgh and it's a great little place. The bar staff are very friendly and welcoming and the beer prices are very cheap-excellent! We also ate here one night with the '2 meals for £8.00' and couldn't fault it for the price. Would definitely visit again.

What a fabulous treat. We went for dinner and the food was wonderful. The best part was the staff. Our waiter, the bartender, and the other waitress were so welcoming and charming, they made our evening unforgettable. Be sure to use the restrooms before you leave this establishment.

Loved it in here, the atmosphere is a little dingy but I guess that's the point. The decor is great, with toilets set behind a hidden wall in the book case and weird and wonderful quirks to it. The cocktails were phenomenal, a must try they all have cool themes too, the virtues, sins etc. The food was fabulous and... More

Toilets were very confusing but amazing, cocktails are really tasty and great money for value. Loved the other references to other Thriller/Horror films like The Exorcist, Dracula and so on.

I will definitely be going back to this bar (one day), Edinburgh is a great city and would like to see more of it. My feet felt like they saw it all twice so it was great to sit down in comfortable chairs and enjoy a lovely meal. Then we noticed the cocktails list. I would recommend the Rhubarb Martini.... More

I had a few drinks, I liked the fact that it was not crowded when I visited. Also, the music was not bad, as it was playing metal sometimes.. Worths a visit.

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
