I wasn't sure whether it would be worth the bus ride through Leith in order to look around Britannia, but it definitely was. The Adult entrance fee is £10, but if you send off a form, apparently you can go again for free. Included in the price is an audio guide - one of those things like an mp3 player... more
We caught the No 22 bus from Edinburgh to Leith £3 return. Admision was 10 including audio tour so good value. The experience was interesting and the ship has been restored and kept in good condition. We ate in Porters which has an excellent view of the ship and provides a good opportunity to get a picture of her. more
We visited The Royal Yacht last week whilst in Edinburgh. Not as impressed as I thought I was going to be. The Yacht itself is stunning, but I wasn't keen on the handset we were given to guide us round the ship - mainly because the narrator's voice was so boring and monotone, I tended to switch off before he'd... more
Brilliant insight into how the Queen and her family lived on board. Staff very helpful and made you feel welcome nothing was to much trouble, what more can you say, a visit not to be missed. more
Arrived via one of the sightseeing buses caught from Waverley Station (gives you a pound off the £10 entry fee for an adult) . Loved the whole thing! Well laid out and clearly marked. Beautifully preserved. Furniture not as modern as I had expected but is in keeping with the age of the yacht. -1950s. Found the luandry room intriguing!... more
The audio tour of the ship allows you to set your own pace. It gives a wonderful insight to the life of the Royal family and how they travel. It also gives a fascinating insight into how the ships company lived and the divides between the ranks. If your a Royal buff its a must. more
Really fantastic value for money tour which gives you a great insight to how the Royal Family and the Crew lived on board this wonderful ship. Excellently managed throughout allowing as much 'hands on' as possible without damaging the furniture and fittings. I would highly recommend this professional tour to anyone visiting Edinburgh. more
Well worth a look if you are in Edinburgh. Ship been well perserved, though perhaps there could be more 'interactive' features. Definitely an interesting attraction and good value at 10pounds. more
We really enjoyed our recent trip to The Royal Yacht Britannia. It was very interesting, even if you aren't a royalist, and was facinating to see. We particularly liked the fact that the price included an audio guide which added to our enjoyment. Highly recommend a visit! Top tip, look out for a leaflet in cafe's and/or tourist info sites... more
