I really enjoyed the tour and we had a nice and funny tour guide - I think Catherine (Wednesday 3rd February, green bus, departing just about 3.10pm). She did a good job, I was amazed she knew everything of the top of her head and never stopped.. even had a few jokes =o)

— 1 circuit on the green bus for 2 — First thing to get straight is that there seem to be at least 3 different operators: Edinburgh Tour (green buses), City Sightseeing (red) & Majestic (blue & orange). Some have a multilingual, pre-recorded commentary and others live commentary in English only. This review relates only to the Edinburgh Tour (green)... More

This tour gives a great overview of Edinburgh city and is well worth doing early on in your visit as you can then decide which attractions you want to go back to. The man selling the tickets was great, really chatty and friendly.

We went on the green tour bus around the city and it was excellent! It was a really bad day, wind and raining not unusual for Scotland but Agnes the tour guid was brilliant and really did her best which was a very difficult day due to high winds and roads closed. Very knowledgable and the driver too was patient... More

We went on the green Edinburgh tour bus. Fantastic way to see the city as we were only here for 2 days. Great to be able to jump on and off as you like. We saw 2 different guides, each very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend it.

The commentary was out of sync with the area we were travelling through. The route was not as comprehensive as it appears on the map

My friend had never visited Edinburgh so the green bus tour was ideal for us giving us a good idea of where places of interest were. We paid only £11.50 each(seniors).

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
