Great way to see the sights of Edinburgh by bus and what was good it lasted 24hours which meant we could do both days. Clear speaking and a helpful map meant we could track where we were stall times.

We opted for the live guided tour rather than the audio tour. We felt we had made the right decision as Agnes, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Edinburgh. She gave us lots of information about all the sights around Edinburgh and kept it interesting and engaging the whole hour tour. The live guided tours are on... More

hanson1610 Thank you for recommending our Royal Edinburgh Ticket here. I am delighted to hear how much you enjoyed exploring Edinburgh's Royal splendours with us. We are now in our summer season so tours run later in the day. We normally look at visitor attraction's closing times when creating our timetable. I hope you made the most of the ticket's... More

Four different tours but essentially 75% the same! Having said that, I really enjoyed doing them all! Obviously you can hop on and off as you want. I would recommend the one with the live commenttating as the guides are very knowledgeable and have snips of information that made it very interesting. I had a guy called Murray. He was... More

This was an excellent way to see the city. We chose to purchase the Royal Edinburgh Tour ticket which included 4 bus tours and fast track access to the Castle, Holyrood Palace and Royal Yacht Britannia. We found it great value and having fast track was a great bonus, particularly at the castle which had long queues for tickets. The... More

There are numerous trips around Edinburgh using the bus tour company. We went on the vintage bus with the live commentary. He was very informative and added funny information on the 1 hour trip. This trip takes you around all the interesting buildings and the old town. The bus is half open topped so even if the weather is bad... More

Despite the inclement weather, we had a most enjoyable and informative tour of the City of Edinburgh. Our Guide - Colin - was extremely knowledgable on the history of Edinburgh and passionate about the Capital and what it had to offer. His delivery style is animated, and entertaining. If you want to learn the facts about the City's history and... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
