We bought a Royal Ticket which includes unlimited hop-on hop-off buses for 48 hours plus a visit to the Castle, Holyrood Palace and Britannia - that's really a very good value for money. Buses run quite often, there are plenty of stops, we did all four full tours available and some hop on and offs and this way we could... More

I did the majestic tour from Waverley Bridge as a more interesting way to get to the Royal Yacht Britannia. This tour does not have a live guide but audio headsets are available as you hop on the bus. It's was full of interesting facts and you could hop on or off as you pleased. The commentary was a little... More

A great way to see the city & to learn about its history. There is so much more to see & do than just walking up the Royal Mile !

We booked the 48hour hop on service which gave us access to all four tours. It was excellent value and enabled us to visit many of the tourist attractions in Edinburgh. I preferred the tours with live guides as they were not only informative but also amusing. However the audio information is also first class.I would recommend these tours to... More

These are usually great ways to get quick intros of new cities. And Edinburgh tours does the trick as well. We did the Grand 48 ticket which gave us choice of service over 2 days. I would recommend the EdinburghTour line because they have the live guide. However, we did have a couple of VERY POOR run ins with a... More

Have visited Edinburgh many times but took my Mum for her first visit recently. As she has walking difficulties this seemed the ideal way to get a flavour of Edinburgh. We took the bus with live commentary and even though we were downstairs were able to see everything . The only disappointment was that the bus stop nearest to the... More

My husband and I loved this bus tour, one of the best tours we've been on! Our live guide Lee was just wonderful and witty - a great intro to Edinburgh. After we rode the full circuit we took advantage of the hop on hop off feature to get to various attractions quickly - so convenient! Plus free wifi on... More

Brings you around the key locations and unless you like steps - use this to go to Edinburgh castle. and walk up and down the Royal Mile. Hop on and off various locations as you please. Will redo when I return in the future to explore the city more. Great way to hear history about the various areas.

The bus tour lets you get on and off when you wanted and the guides where really good at tell you when you'd need to get off for each attraction. They had so much information to tell you and managed to fill up any stops in traffic with extra information which I thought I was really impressive they clearly all... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
