My friend who was visiting wanted to go to this museum . I had never heard of it . It was a wonderful visit . Very informative and the gentleman who showed us all the machines working has to be congratulated on a great job. We did not have enough time and I will certainly go again when I have... More

Thank you for your nice review and I am glad you enjoyed your visit, and yes while lots of people have a laugh at Health & Safety today those who worked in the mills years ago faced some challenges we would not dream of today. Also thanks for your kind words for Lily, who, like all our guides are volunteers... More

I went to Verdant works with a group of visually impaired friends and Lily one of the guides made it really interesting with her description of the various machine processes, also her Dundee accent and sense of humour gave us a laugh !! For our group the audio commentary all the way round was excellent .As we found out health... More

Really enjoyed learning about jute and the connection between India and Dundee. It was interesting to hear about how the women worked in the factories and how bad the conditions were. There were lots of videos to watch and things to see. You can get joint tickets with The Discovery Centre which is good value at £15. It was fairly... More

You don't find this every day ...... a museum that engages every member of the family! 2 adults, a teenager and a pre-teen all had an enjoyable experience at this Dundee museum. Highlights: computer games that illustrated the dangers to children working in the mills and how the jute barons made their money; the impressive machinery with accompanying film that... More

This museum is a must see if you find yourself in Dundee. It traces the history of the jute industry in Scotland and highlights the role Dundee played in the industry. The museum contains working machinery and all the processe are carefully explained. There are also plenty of audiovisual contributions and plenty if interactive activities for children.

After being on so many city breaks abroad we though it was time to visit what is virtually on our doorstep. What an interesting place this is, we were given an introduction by one of the guides, she was very well informed and with this information we set of on our self guided tour. The exhibits are all well documented... More

Another attraction which the family all enjoyed, buy a joint ticket for here and the Discovery it works out cheaper for you all. Lots of information we could have done with a little more time, we were trying to cram in too much for the day. Very interesting how hard the ladies worked, my own gran was in the Dundee... More

A well laid out and informative museum with very knowledgeable guides. Good for all the family. Well annotated displays with good audio back up and more info and memories at strategically placed phone points. Activities for the younger child throughout the museum. Thoroughly deserves its 5 star tourist board rating. Special exhibitions from time to time, so the free offer... More

The lay out and setting of artefacts make the jute industry come alive. Plenty to do for children with many hands on experiences. Easy parking. Highly recommended

I had a free voucher offer so I took my hubby and two little girls aged 5 and 2 on a miserable morning to the Verdant Works. It is praise indeed that both of my girls had a great time and found plenty to keep them occupied whilst we had a chance to read the information and even listen to... More
