City centre but accessible with adjacent car park this is an extensively refitted factory premises illustrating all you will ever need to know about jute and much about Dundee too. Audio visuals are excellent and myriad and the guide was very informative and friendly. Too little of our industrial heritage remains, so soak it up while you can. There are... More

We stopped off at this museum on a day trip to Dundee, the museum is signposted from the city centre, however it is a little difficult to actually find as it is in a maze of small narrow streets. The museum itself is about the jute industry that made Dundee famous and is based in an old Jute mill. It... More

what a fabulous museum and a brilliant informative one too...tells the story of how jute was originated and shows the process from begining to end.. so next time you buy a supermarket hessian bag for life think how it arrived here...lovely helpful young man and girl in ticket/cafe and very easy to negotiate around the museum..well worth a visit

A great insight into the way the jute industry started and the social history of the time. An opportunity to see the machinery working and see the process from growing to final product.

an excellent hands-on museum, in a refurbished jute mill. Staffed by folk who used to work in the mills, so they know their stuff

Really interesting museum. Gave you an idea of what it was like working in the mill and what a life that must have been like. We even saw one of the men from one of the videos working inside the mill grounds. Definitely worth a visit. Staff at the reception area were lovely and really helpful.

A decent diversion. It's more a large diorama than a working mill, but does give you the flavor of the times.

Worth setting aside at least two hours to do this excellent museum justice. There is free parking around the back and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The displays are well thought through and the museum tries hard to balance both the workers side of the story and the mill owners. The museum gives an excellent display of jute... More

Liked the fact they took you through the each process from receiving the raw jute to the end product; showing the machinery and explaining each part. Upstairs houses an exhibition displaying and recounting the living conditions of the jute workers.
