The staff are very friendly and this is one of the lesser known museums. It is very well laid out with the right level of information both on the social history of Dundee and also on the Jute industry. The cafe on the premises has a basic menu and is reasonable value for money. The car park is free providing... More

Verdant Works is essential to visitors interested in Dundee's history. Jute made Dundee's fortune - or at least the fortunes of the mill owners, if not the workers. Verdant Works tells the story of jute past and present and, more importantly, gives an insight into the lives of the mill workers (and their employers, the Jute Barons). There is lots... More

Spent a rainy mid day here while on holiday - had lunch before starting, in the cafe - very enjoyable. Wasn't sure what to expect of the museum but it explained Dundee's part in the jute trade in a very informative way (expected it to be boring but not at all!), using films, narratives, recreations, as well as a fascinating... Very interesting for all ages. Good parking facilities. We took my Grandson and had taken my son when he was young - they both enjoyed it. Watch out when you open the door of the outside loo.

This really is a brilliant attraction in Dundee. Really delves into the past and brings to life Dundee during the industrial revolution when the jute mills were at the height of their success. The interactive nature of this museum is great making the information easy to understand but also i imagine, great for keeping kids interested. Would definitely recommend.

Lived and worked in Dundee for nearly 20 years and feel a little ashamed that I have only just visited here. WONDERFUL place, well laid out and presented with written and verbal explanations of how the product was produced from before arriving in Dundee to ready to sell. Found it hard to imagine how many people worked in this building... More
