The McManus has wonderful exhibits about various facets of Dundee life and culture. The museum is rather a Victorian setup with halls of local history, natural history, and art. The section on Dundee's history informs in an engaging way. The McManus also has a nice cafe and museum shop.

As our grandchildren aged 6 and 8 are off school and thought we would take them to the museum for a change. There were lots of interesting displays with a skeleton of a terradactil which our grandson loved. There are displays on Dundee throughout the century and of course about our jute, jam and journalism history. There is a drawing... More

Me and my wife ended up at this museum partly due to the terrible weather , but so glad we did. It was excellent , so much to see and if your fortunate to meet the gentleman curator who we bumped into near the end of our visit , he'll let you into a few secrets about the museum. Great... More

Lots to see. Could spend a lot of time here. And it's free. Staff very welcoming and helpful to visitors, especially Spanish guide who helped some young Spanish guests of ours. He explained some of the objects to them.

Hasn't been the best of summers in Scotland so went for a visit to the McManus Museum, so glad we did. the museum is varied and there is something to interest everyone from history to modern art. There are also child friendly activities and really helpful staff. We enjoyed lunch at the on site café and resumed our 'learning experience'... More

Great place to visit and learn about Dundee's history and see some artwork. There is a cafe at the main entrance. There is often stuff for children to engage with arts & crafts.

This was closed for a very long time and although it is an interesting museum I feel that it could have been more interactive and relevant for children. Having visited museums in lots of cities I feel that Dundee has missed out somewhere.Sorry

I took my young son here recently as I think museums are good places for children to visit.....I thought it was a good place to see and some enjoyable things to do. The only downside a few over zealous museum attendants.

The McManus is a free museum and art gallery dedicated to the history of Dundee. The museum does a good job of tracing the city's history, from the making of the landscape 400 million years ago to life in 21st century Dundee. I particularly liked the gallery 'the making of Modern Dundee'. Here the skeleton of the Tay Whale is... More

This place is a real Aladdin's Cave. Some of the exhibits are wonderful and the whole experience is amazing. To add to the day the entry is free. First class experience.
