Firstly, The McManus is a lovely building, a Victorian work of art in itself. But it's not a stuffy old museum - it has been thoroughly modernised and refurbished inside and is full of interesting collections relating to Dundee's history and culture as well as important paintings and artworks. There's a decent cafe and shop too. You can spend hours... More

Amazing this gem in the middle of Dundee city centre! Free to walk in and worth a visit or two, three, four :-)

Story of Dundee told in an interesting way -- surprised at the quality and range of the art on display. Enjoyed a visit to the café -- sat outside to enjoy the sunshine.

I didn't have very long to explore the McManus today but liked what I saw, and I'll certainly go back when I have a bit more time. Probably next week. The building is lovely, well worth a visit for that alone, but I also liked the exhibits I saw. Some of the paintings are super. As far as I could... More

This was our second visit since the gallery was reopened after the major refurbishment and like the first one we were very disappointed. We had made regular visits to the Museum mainly in the 80s with out children and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlight of the visit was the old shop which brought back memories of things that I... More

lovely museum, free entry. The building itself is extremely nice, I really enjoyed the paintings and all the items related to the story of Dundee (from the very old Pict crosses to the more modern videogames) and the stories of all people who made the story of Dundee and Scotland. What I didn't really appreciate was the embalmed animals area.... More

One of the best things about this museum/gallery is the building itself. The wood panelling and roof trusses are just unbelievable. The floor tiling on the ground floor is very intricate in areas and again a work of extreme craftsmanship not to mention the glasswork in the windows. Its a great place just to walk around for the fact its... More

Was recommended to visit this place as a good coffee stop and attraction. We had coffee and cake outside on a sunny day which was nice but inside was very pleasant too with lovely stained glass windows in the restaurant. Good selection of food on offer. The building has its own history and the story boards give you a fascinating... More
