Had an unplanned visit to the museum and art gallery while on a day trip to Dundee. Many good exhibits about natural history and the history of Dundee. Not many places are free to enter but this is and very worth a visit. (We did give a donation) The Building containing the museum is worth a visit in itself as... More

Lovely setting with stained glass window depicting the life of Mary Slessor. Modern furniture and straightforward food, reasonably priced. Served at the table by friendly staff. Ideal for lunch - soup and a sandwich is great value

My husband and I really enjoyed this museum. It has a large variety of exhibits from natural history to gallery art and it is free to enter.

Looking for something inside to do because of the rain we found ourselves in this museum!! Surprised at the free entry this is clearly good value for money for a short or long visit. Lots of history and artefacts in the museum but we would happily of given the "art" exhibitions upstairs a miss; we felt the staff were closely... More

Staying in Dundee for a 2 night break and wanting a bit of culture so decided to visit this museum. The building itself is extraordinary and quite spectacular. Once inside, it was spacious, well laid out with some very nice exhibits. Part of the museum was closed but did not detract from the rest. Staff were friendly and informative and... More

Being a local girl and having visited the museam before, i decided while up from Devon where we now live to bring my family up to see all about dundee, and we were bitterly disapointed, While the main hall with the local artifacts was quiet interesting, none of the interactive pods worked, so the children were bored. - this being... This is a gallery/museum that gives you a general understaning about the past of Dundee as well as giving you some interesting facts about the 3 J's of Dundee (Jute, Jam and Journalism), as well as their now famous software and video game background and much more. It will not take you long to have a quick look around to... More

Absolutely stunning building. Very interesting gallery and museum with stunning painting and exhibits. Particularly liked the stained glass panels. Great view of The McManus steeple from the Long Gallery. Gentleman guide was ever so helpful and friendly. Wouldn't bother with the cafe, a bit overpriced and not all that good. Would definitely visit again.
