At first I thought we would be in and out very quickly as there seemed to be just a field with bits of planes. However there is much more if you are happy reading information about how air played its part in the second world war. There were some rooms showing how people lived and a climb up the control... Pleasant way to spend and afternoon. Made better as there was also a car rally at the same time. D&G museum has a great selection of aircraft, engines, history and memorabilia. The control tower has a superb display. All the staff are volunteers and will help you with any questions,

The hubby was in his element here. I was amazed by how much aviation memrobellia was housed in the aviation tower, I think it will be well worth a return visit once the expansions have been done.

We spent an enjoyable hour and a half at the museum a few weeks back. Had meant to go for a long time but never been in the area when it was open. Interesting displays both outside and inside and very friendly volunteers keeping it all together.

The Museum is a must see if you are interested in not only aircraft but engines and history of our Air Force. The control tower has a superb display in all rooms from models, letters right up to a room displaying how a wartime control tower would have sounded as well as worked. All the staff are volunteers and will... More

Came here a while ago with my family and we had an amazing time! We especially loved going into the tower where they had uniforms and photos of the pilots from many, many years ago. We loved talking to the manager who was very friendly and was very keen to tell us the history of the place which we thoroughly... More

Made a trip to the Dumfries and Galloway aviation museum today, especially to see ZF584 Was a bit disappointed (and shocked?) At the condition of some of the other airframes there, they looked really neglected and in desperate need of some tlc Did my bit to help the museum tho by paying over the admission price and making a donation... Certainly a Hidden gem. Good amount of exhibits on display. Quite a lot from WWII period. I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are down at Dumfries and Galloway pay a visit won't be disappointed. Not a massive museum, won't take long to see everything, I would say under 2 hours may be.

Great place, lots of information and enthusiastic volunteers. History of little known airfield during wars. Fascinating insight into life away from big cities but also important.
