Well worth a visit for anyone looking for something to do in Dumfries. Some great exhibits and well set out. It is going from strength to strength every time I visit and the staff are always knowledgeable and happy to help.

My son is an aeroplane fanatic so we couldn't believe it when we spotted the signs for the museum during a visit to Dumfries. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgable. Gift shop and refreshments too.

This expanding museum is devoted to planes of the past. There is a whole aeronautical history gathered together on several floors of the control tower. The sounds of the engines were very evocative. Everything from engines and various bits from engines to the people who lived and worked here. Gave you a real sense of what they went through. I... More

To visited the aviation museum on Saturday the 19th and decided to return for the open day/fair that was on the Sunday as well. It has a varied selection of planes on display and the control room and other exhibits have some great memorabilia. I will without doubt be returning when I visit Dumfries again.

The planes and artifacts were interesting, but I think more information about the planes could be added. The control tower was cool, with lots of exhibits to look at and get a feel for what it was like back in that time period. The staff were not very helpful and didn't seem to want to engage in conversation, however it... More

This is a great place for young and old alike. Filled with information on each exhibition. Very cheap price to get in. We bought an annual pass as it was so cheap. Ww2 homework was a breeze after this. Run by volunteers that will tell you all about the museum. Their is a machine in the control tower that has... More

Went here with my girlfriend and 25th may 2014 as we were done from kilbirnie on a weekend break! This was my highlight! For a small museum it's great I can't recommend it enough! Aircrafts look good and the information boards on each craft telling you where she had been in her life added the respect for each craft! All... More

The museum is situated in an area around the Control Tower of the original airfield comprising RAF Dumfries, which closed in the 1960's and was sold to a private investor. Although a bit tight for space, the Museum has an admirable collection of historic aircraft, some restored, others in the process of being so. The Control Tower houses the `museum',... More
