Certainly a Hidden gem. Good amount of exhibits on display. Quite a lot from WWII period. I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are down at Dumfries and Galloway pay a visit won't be disappointed. Not a massive museum, won't take long to see everything, I would say under 2 hours may be.

Great place, lots of information and enthusiastic volunteers. History of little known airfield during wars. Fascinating insight into life away from big cities but also important.

We paid the museum a visit on a wet Sunday afternoon. We were very impressed with the quantity and quality of all the exhibits. There are several aircraft standing outdoor, and the preserved control tower contains much of interest, in particular an impressive number of aircraft engines of all ages and size. There is a lot of information regarding the... More

Perhaps it would have been good if I'd found it. However we did a hundred mile round trip and wasted a couple of hours looking for this place which seems to have no signs off the main road if you follow the A7, B7068 and A709 route [ at least, none we could find]. Add to that the terrible state... More

Fantastic place with working parts a real 'step back in time' feeling. A great place to visit for adults & kids and really brings the wartime ere to life. A brilliant place which I would recommend to everyone, whatever age!

I think this place needs some urgent cash invested in it as it was a little tatty and run down. But that did not spoil my husbands enjoyment. he thoroughly enjoyed it and it was informative and did its best for a small place.

This is a welcoming museum which contains exhibits to excite those with a specialist interest in aviation and engineering but also a range of 'human interest' artefacts and items. There are some very moving accounts of individuals and families whose lives have been touched in some way by their connections with aviation. I was pleasantly surprised to be so interested... More

My son is an aeroplane fanatic so we couldn't believe it when we spotted the signs for the museum during a visit to Dumfries. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgable. Gift shop and refreshments too.
