Unfortunately we chose a very wet and windy day to do this drive. The roads are obviously dusty/dirty tracks but any vehicle could navigate them (I had a big people carrier and no issues, though it needs a god wash now!) Signage could be better, we took gambles on which turns to take and I'm sure we cut our drive... More

Wonderful drive after visiting the visitor centre in the Galloway forest park. We stopped many times for views and photos and some short walks to explore along the way. Beauty behold right in the heart of the forest and a beautiful loch!

Take your time and enjoy the ride, this road winds through the forest and there is some beautiful scenery to take in. It took us quite a while to drive this road as we were continually stopping to take photos or just sit by the loch or river a chill. Take a picnic and stop at Otter Pools car park... More

Road far better than we remembered, yes your car is covered in dust by the end but that easily sorted. Please observe the 15mph speed limit, some were not, it's not posted for no reason flying stones causes injury. Definitely take a picnic and stop at Otters Pool or even have a BBQ as there are places there for that... More

Raiders Road Forest Drive in Galloway Forest Paek is a maintained gravel byway that runs parallel to the River Dee. Its 10 mile length is open to nonmotorized traffic year round and to cars April-October. There is a £2 car toll, but the day we drove it in early May, there was no one to collect it. The Otter Pool... More

£2 is a small price for this road trip! I thought the track would only be suitable for 4x4's but my saloon car, with about 4-6inches of clearance was no problem. On our trip we only saw 2 other vehicles, so stops for photos were no hassle. The otter pool is a delightful place to stop and snack, or to... More

This drive through the forest is worth the £2.00 charge. There are plenty of areas to stop and picnic especially Otter Pool where the dog can paddle too - or drive to Clatterinshaws Cafe which is alos near to Bruces Stone. The road is very rough and dusty and can seem rough on the car. Worth the journey!

This 8 mile drive through forest is an absolute must for any family on holiday in dumfries and Galloway. The drive at be completed at your own pace with plenty of places to pull other and take in the spectacular scenery. I would recommend stopping at the otter pool. The kids (and adults) will love wading through the water (... More

I'm not sure if there are supposed to be otters here but sadly we saw none. The scenery of the whole road however is utterly beautiful and I would recommend the hour is so it took us to drive it!

The £2 toll is definitely worth the spend. Some amazing views and photography opportunities. Take a picnic and sit by the otters pool. You won't regret it.
