Bowhill House is great value. The house is only open during July but that doesn't matter. For just £4 you can get an annual ticket and visit as many times as you like. This means you can go on any number of the guided walks as often as you like. A wonderful way to get some exercise in the beautiful... More

Really Good value with £12 family pass for the season - plenty of things in the newly designed play area for older children (mine are 8, 10 and 11) and younger children. Plenty of routes round the lakes which would be suitable for off road buggies and at a push small scooters/bikes. Longer routes could be better signposted, but don't... More

Only pay once for the season. Staff really friendly. Food reasonable priced. Only £1 for a big jug of orange. We enjoyed going on the big walk on our mountain bikes. Steep climb with great views and really fast decent. More routes would be appreciated. Great children's adventure play area.

House was closed but we had really only gone to walk the dog and have a coffee and cake. Lots of dog walking routes, horses too. Disappointing that the café doesn't let dogs in, you can sit outside, but it was cold and damp. The cakes were dry and the coffee needed a bit of oomph. Would like to come... More

This is my second year as a season pass holder. For £4, an adult gains entry to the grounds (house is extra), but for that £4, you pop into the gift shop, where they give you a season ticket for no extra cost. The adventure playground has recently been refurbished and is great for both adults and kids. It's in... More

There is plenty of space to walk in the grounds to enjoy the fresh air and surroundings. Kids playarea is amazing the only thing is the toilets are not close enough for children when they are desperate so having a portoloo nearby would be a plus. Well worth a visit

Bowhill House and Country Estate is a beautiful example of what Southern Scotland has to offer. The grounds and house are excellent in every detail. It's certainly a step back in time and worth the time. Take some time and walk the grounds to truly appreciate the landscapes and nature.

Bowhill is one of a number of hidden gem country houses in the Scottish Borders - think of Floors, Traquair, Mellerstain, Drumlanrig to name but a few of the others. We had a great trip down from Edinburgh for the day, passing through some stunning countryside on the way - but only serving as a taster for Bowhill and its... More

A very good tour of the house with a guide who was enthusiastic, informative and entertaining. After describing the main features of rooms time was given to ensure those on the party had time to view the exhibits. There is a small gift shop with reasonably priced items. The tea room provided a lovely afternoon tea. Certainly a well worth... More
