Perhaps the Victorian exterior does not match the grandeur of Adam houses, but the interiors more than make up for it. Take the tour with the knowledgeable guides, and learn the history of the family and its part on Scottish life. The inner hallway, and the dining room, with its silver and paintings by Reynolds and Canaletto, are simply stunning. The... More

This is a compact area of soft play equipment and all indoors My grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their time and clearly want to go back. At only two pounds each that sounds good to me. The coffee shop next door is also worth a visit for adults (and children! ).

Bowhill was recommended to me. Spent a great day there, great cafe, small soft play ( handy when it started raining). Plenty of walks and brilliant outdoor adventure playground. Great value for money, included a season pass for future visits.

We visited on Easter Sunday and the grounds were mobbed with families on an Easter egg hunt. The house is seldom open and we were lucky to have a quiet tour. It is full of old masters and original furniture. After the tour, the restaurant had quietened down and we had a very good reasonably priced lunch. Well worth the... More

We went on Easter Sunday and it was packed! The estate looked at its best in the sunshine, and there were tons of kids having a wonderful time with various egg hunts. We were able to take our dog and walked all around the loch and the woods. The house tour was quiet so we got a chance to ask... More

Loved the play area for the kids. Stunning scenery and food. The kids absolutely wants to return to that play area!

Bowhill was closed for the season, but you could walk in the grounds, which were large and extensive, and had lots of snowdrops just beginning to appear. The lakes are also wonderful to look at.

Vast, beautiful estate. We visited on a day when the main house and tearoom was closed but we were there for the walk, so that did not bother us much. We did the walk up Duchess's drive all the way up through to the edge of the forest, through the gate and all the way up the hill to the... More

We visited Bowhill and walked round the grounds. Although the house was closed the walk was worthwhile

Bowhill is situated near Selkirk in The Scottish Borders. The estate is owned by the Duke of Buccleuch. The grounds are beautiful and provide some great walks. There is a play area for children which is excellent and safe. Throughout the year there are numerous activities for most tastes. Enjoy lovely walks and stunning scenery then end your visit in the...
