Wow we came across this without knowing anything about it. we had the Abbey to ourselves. It was fantastic- cheap and really well done to inform visitors about this ancient palce.

Well worth a visit. Information telling you what used to be at each area. Marvel at the engineering feats this ruin has.

It is quite a shock to look up and see the abbey when you drive into Jedburgh; almost takes your breath away as there’s enough of the ruins for you to imagine how it would have been. Definitely worth a visit even just to gaze at it from the car park. Great photo opportunities.

Jedburgh Abbey is is in a border town (Northern England) where Mary Queen of Scots once stayed. The proximity of the abbey to the border made it a target for battles between the Scots and the English. It was burned and plundered a number of times, but it is a powerfully beautiful ruin.

Visited Jedburgh with my boyfriend about a month ago. I've lived in the borders most of my life but had never even been to Jedburgh before this, he'd been a few times but only to play rugby, not for sightseeing.
We were greeted by friendly staff, happy to chat and recommend other places to visit for later or other days....

A magnificent old ruin with enough information on its history and the monks who lived there to keep you enthralled. Topped off by a lovely visitor centre this is another must in the Scottish Borders.
