This is a stunning ruin and can be seen from most areas of the town, take a trip up some pretty steep hills in the car and park at the foot of the Tower. I am in a wheelchair so it was a steady push for my husband but well worth the struggle, the views are awesome and you can... More

If you are already in Oban be sure to make your way to the tower. It is unique and offers great views of the Oban harbor. If you are not planning on stopping in Oban you do not need to change you route to see the tower.

A great view from this rather odd structure! Amazing architecture, designed by someone who was not an architect! Looks a bit like a Roman structure in form, but its only a few years old in comparison! Pleasant spot.

We took a trip up and up and up the hill to see this Monument. Well worth every step. Great photos day or night. You have to make the effort.

McCaig's Tower is a prominent landmark in Oban. It was financed by a wealthy local in the 19th century to provide work for unemployed stone masons and is actually a circular wall based on the Roman Collosseum. It's a steep walk up the hill (though you can cheat and drive your car up to the car park just below). It's... More

This attraction offers great views over Oban, the Bay and surrounding islands. But not much else. Worth a visit if you want a quick view of the area or have time to kill.

I decided to run to McCaig's Tower one morning while visiting Oban as it has a significant presence on the hillside of Oban looming over the bay and it looked quite attractively medieval. Upon making it to the top (panting no less) I noted the plaque dating it to the 20th century and creation as an exhibit of a local... More

The route to this is especially challenging. (I know tower are usually on a hilltop). However, I consider myself quite fit and found this a bit hard going. That said, it is worth going to see and view of Oban Bay at the top is worth this hamstring burn.
