It's worth the walk up from town (or you can drive up) to see this - once you're there, it's beautifully quiet but with excellent views across Oban and the harbour. Also worth exploring some of the roads around the Tower, for a bit of extra peaceful walking

Worth a visit, it's free, space to wander, great views, ideal for picnic in the right weather. Unless fit and energetic would recommend driving.

Walked off lunch with a short uphill stroll to this interesting folly, which dominates the town. Perfect vantage point to see Friday's gathering storm. Atmospheric in all weathers and seasons.

Lovely relaxing spot, easy to find, good car park, not far from town walking or by car and beautiful views over Oban. Looking forward to taking a trip up with my little girl to have a run around :)!

This incredible structure dominates Oban and has a most extraordinary history behind its construction of which most of the locals seem to be fairly familiar. It is well kept and reasonably accessible unlike the structure that inspired it. The considerable climb up Jacobs ladder is not too difficult but it can also be reached by car.

It's very close to the centre of town, up some steep but charming streets, and the view is worth every step. In the old days it was called "McCaig's Folly", but this was completely unfair, as it was actually a philanthropic exercise to provide work for unemployed stone masons. It's very odd, but unforgettable. Great views west across Mull and... More
