There many displays that show the important role played by Oban during the conflict in giving a base for the flying boats which played such an important part in the battle of the Atlantic. There were also many exhibits which gave... Lovely museum with really knowledgeable staff who are willing to chat. Great way to spend time learning about the area and what they experienced during the wars.

visited on the off chance as we had some spare time left after visiting Oban. A really lovely small museum well stocked with memorabilia and covering the full spectrum of civilian and all services of the realm. Lots of interesting exhibits and extremely well maintained. Free entry but donations gratefully accepted. If you are in Oban visit and contribute it... More

This place is run totally by enthusiastic volunteers who are very knowledgeable about local history and all aspects of the museum. They are open most of the year and, amazingly, the place is free. It relies totally on donations. It isn't a large place but it is crammed with displays on the history of Oban during war and peace as... More

Small but perfectly formed museum! Interesting to get a history of the people and the area and the old boys at the front desk were great and entertaining! If you have time, worth a visit!

Excellent and fascinating collection of Obanabilia - mainly wartime stuff but much else besides. Worth a visit. There are hundreds of old photos and a then and now section which is always interesting.
