This experience is well worth the effort. The staff are enthusiastic and helpful. The exhibits are well laid out and presented. A good history lesson for folk of "all ages"!

Located on the ground floor of the Oban Times Building this volunteer run museum is a tiny gem. Focusing mainly on the two world wars one gets a detailed picture of how Oban was at these times. This is a great introduction to Oban telling the history from neolithic times to present day. It focuses mainly on military history and the part Oban played as a base for the Flying boats in WW II.There is also a dvd presentation about sites to see and visit. This is a good place to start your holiday.

My museum visits are rarer than hens' teeth but this one was really enjoyable. I was expecting it to be full of militaria and although this formed the bulk of the exhibits, there were fascinating photos and items from everyday life in years gone by, some of which I could remember from my childhood. The joys of middle age!! It... More

Popped in as it had started raining and was really surprised how interesting it was. A great way to spend an hour learning about Oban's history and it's free!
