This museum is close to the pier-great location- lots to see- on one level-lots of photographs, the cost is low- I would say it's worth seeing! You can slip in for a quick visit, or take your time and read about the many photos, exhibits....one of those museums you can visit more than once.

Small but perfectly formed - run by volunteers, this museum is a great place to visit, get a feel for how Oban was, what happened in the war and almost take a step back in time. Spend time looking at the exhibits and reading about them - it's not a place to walk in, have a quick look and dash... More

The museum was next door to the hotel. Free admission. Clean and tidy. Very warm and friendly welcome. Very interesting history. Lots of pictures and memorabilia. We were fascinated!

From outside it looks like a very small museum of maybe only 1 room. Once through the door however, it rivals Dr Who's tardis. How they have so many fascinating things on show, and they tell me they have twice as much they cannot show due to lack of space. I went in thinking I would spend about 15-20 minutes... More

We visited Oban today, a lovely little harbour town with some beautiful shops. We popped into the museum and were amazed at the number of artefacts they had! Really friendly and informative staff were on hand and were happy to tell us more about the many medals and photographs they had. Lovely little museum and all for free (obviously we... More

Our friends, who live locally, took us to this little gem. Everything Oban-related can be found here. The guides (volunteers) are extremely knowledgeable and courteous. There is no admission charge, but you will want to purchase their DVD and make a contribution.
