Intended to try and find and visit this beach near Oban but only got around to it a few weeks ago. I had been told it was pricey to park but I parked FREE OF CHARGE without any difficulty. The cruise ship Queen Mary 2 was anchored about a mile off shore so was able to get some good photos.... More

Lovely dog friendly beach. Very accessible due to there beings huge car park with toilets and bins. Peaceful as no burger vans etc. Stones and pebbles at the back but a lovely stretch of sandy beach then at the far end it is rock pool paradise.

This used to be a great 1/2 hr walk from Oban....to escape to an isolated beach with a few homes. It is now built up with large holiday homes and seemed a little weird. Definitely lost its rustic feel. Still a nice beach ideal for kayaking.

First bit of sandy beach outside Oban. There’s a large car park and a small fee to park there (make sure you do pay for your parking as we saw one car with a parking ticket). There is also a local bus that goes out there too. The beach was shallow and would be good for paddling (as long as... More

Loved this quiet natural beach. Only £1 to park for 4 hours. Small kiosk selling teas and coffees and buckets and spades. Toilets here too. Will return in warmer weather

We stopped of at Ganavan sands today at the kids request. Barbecue bought at the local superstore along with burgers, rock pools explored and dogs walked. It's many years now since this was a bustling caravan site but the beach and car park haven't changed. The views across to mull are as breathtaking as ever especially at sunset. Lots of... More

Great walk approx 2 miles from Oban, just follow shore road along past war memorial and lighthouse.Mostly paved walk buy some short on road walking, road fairly quiet. Toilets and tea an next to beach area, if you feel like walking another 2 miles through Dunbeg to Drunstaffage castle, follow tarmac path behind toilet block.
