What once was the highlight of every child in the summer is now long gone, There used to be a fantastic Pavillion which sold everything from suntan lotion to fish and chips!. Trampolines and donkey rides are no more, not even a sandy beach for kids to have fun on, instead we have houses privately owned and nothing for the... More

If you are looking for a good easy walk to blow away the cobwebs whilst in Oban, walk to Ganavan Sands. It is only a couple of miles along the road, mostly on pavement although there are a couple of short sections where you are on the road so care is needed. Plenty of opportunities to take detours down to... More

We go as a family to paddle in water and to investigate the accessible rock pools which are to the left of the beach. Easy parking

My dogs love this beach! Great place whatever the weather! Nice little walk over the tops to Dunstaffnage or you can use the cycle route if you prefer less mud and bogs! Car park is a great bonus and makes everything very easy!

Ganavan sands is such a special and tranquil place. Whatever the weather, it's perfect for taking a stroll, whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the islands beyond Oban. The sunsets are phenomenal from here. I went there every day for a week whilst on holiday and not once did I find any litter or detritus on the beach. It's... More

Ganavan Bay is a lovely place to walk. Dunollie Castle also has lovely walks - lovely views and interesting things to see. Nice and level easy going. You can pass your time sitting at the front watching the boats come and go and there are lovely fish and chips shops.

We have been visiting Oban for man years but only found Ganavan last year and only really explored it this year. It's within walking distance of the town (a couple of miles - or you can take the bus or drive - car park was free last weekend - maybe for the winter?) and a fab oasis. If you want... More
