We only visited the gardens today - the weather was lovely as were the gardens. Unfortunately the signage was a little confusing as part of the walkways had been closed off. The pinetum had many interesting trees, our favourite was the Italianate Garden - lovely. We didn't have time to visit the castle itself. Next time maybe

I live locally and this is my second visit to the castle with friends and relatives visiting me from down South. The first time I visited in April was very good with a very informative tour guide and a tour that lasted well over an hour making it worth while alas this time in August I was very disappointed. The... More

A beautiful place with extensive grounds that you were free to wander. The tour guide was friendly and informative. A really interesting place to visit with a cafe serving delicious scones and tea. Well worth a visit.

Glamis Castle makes much of the fact that it was the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Whilst this is true, this distracts rom the fact that the Earls of Strathmore have lived at Glamis since the 14th century. Over the last 700 years, the castle has grown and evolved, but enough remains of the really ancient... More

All,visitors take a guided tour which is informative and gives time to look around. There are a lot of stairs so anyone with mobility problems may struggle. The guide was knowledgeable and the rooms used by the queen mother are untouched. Didn't have time to look at the walled garden but the highland cattle are visible and interesting to see.

A lovely castle with an amazing history. We really enjoyed the guided tour. The guide ensured that those with access issues were informed about, how they could join in. We loved they family feel to this castle. Many castles only show their history, not the families who created this history. Great facilities, and many families only visit the gardens, and... More

We arrived just before opening time at ten am to be told the tour did not start until 10:30, and you cannot enter the castle without the tour starting, we tried to wait in a queue at the bottom of the stairs but told this was not possible and to return just before the tour starts, however it is first... I was very dissapointed on my recent visit to Glamis Castle. The castle itself is a stunning place to visit alas the guided tour was hurried (last one of the day 4:30) we were shown 2/3 things in a room and hurried to the next room. The information was very short and the guide gave the impression she had somewhere... More

Beautiful Castle together with a very good guide made this a visit to remember. Childhood home of HM The Queen Mother and birthplace of Princess Margaret. Lots of family photos and childhood letters from the present queen to her granny

This castle was beautiful and had son many interesting pieces in it. It was a guided tour, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Everyone in our group, ages from 4 to adult, really enjoyed it. In fact, it was the first castle we visited and it turned out to be everyone's favorite. After the tour, we had a snack... More
