It only took about 1/2 hour for the walk but we managed to spot a Kingfisher en route. Peter... More

Worthwhile going to see. You just sometimes don't know what is on I your own doorstep. Miller was very knowledgable. Great interaction with all there.

Barry Mill wasn't my idea of a family day out, BUT I went along with the family just to see what it was all about . . . We arrived a bit early but staff/manager Peter greeted us and told us we were welcome to explore the gardens/pond/orchard until opening time . . . An offer we took up. On... More

We arrived before the opening time of the mill on a Sunday but access was open and we had a lovely walk along through the grounds and along the mill lade. On our return the reception area was open and we had a chat with the very friendly staff. We were dissapointed that there was no milling demonstration planned that... More

We were lucky with the weather as our visit was over the Easter weekend. We had a personal guide which meant that you could ask as many questions as you wished. We were given a bit of the history surrounding the site. Records show that there has been a mill on the site since 1539. The current mill was rebuilt... More

We walked from the Carnoustie Golf Hotel to Barry Mill where we were greeted by the miller. We gladly accepted his offer of a personal tour complete with commentary round the mill - he was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed his enthusiasm for the mill. Beautiful location. Well worth a visit.

Amazing look at early 19th century life in the rural areas. Excellent tour of the mill with a demonstration of milling . A real look at how hard people worked creating a simple but staple food group for many. Educational and fun. Things like this need preserving or the future so pay it a visit. Join the nts and there's... More

Have passed this many times and so glad we decided to spend an afternoon there. We were greeted by Peter Ellis who was fascinating and spent a good bit of time explaining about the mill and the history. We were given a guided tour by Jenny who was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a great afternoon. Nice walks as... More
