Although we live fairly nearby this attraction, we had never visited the Barry Mill until a recent stay-cation. And aren't we glad we visited! This mill is in perfect working order, nestled in a lovely peaceful hollow above the Barry Burn. The curator is a fund of knowledge and sets all the working parts of the mill in motion explaining... Visit on a Sunday when they mill some cerals, excellent description of how the process worked and you get up close to the machinery running from the power of the water wheel. So much clever engineering went into this and its a treat to see on all three floors. has some riverside walks but was to wet to follow them.

Such an enjoyable visit - made special by the unhurried, knowledgeable and enthusiastic approach of our guide, we were so pleased to see the mill in full swing, grinding the flower - well worth a visit, you will come away knowing far more than when you went...

Found Barry Mill as somewhere to visit during ashort stay in Carnoustie.Having visited today I would certainly recommend it to others. The displays have been very cleverly put together and are indeed very interesting but having Ciaran, one of the millers, guide us round the mill and explain everything so well and with such fascinating detail certainly made the whole... A bit of a family tradition at Easter time. Duck races are great fun despite how competitive the dads get. It's a nice day if the weather is fine. There is also a short walk in the country that is well worth the effort.

Well worth a visit, I had been previously but took my husband as I knew he would be interested - he LOVED it! The National Trust for Scotland have done a wonderful job in saving this mill. Special mention has to go to the manager Peter Ellis who is so passionate about the mill and also very interesting. We had... More

I visited this mill last summer. Although I wasn't initially particularly enthusiastic about this visit, I found it to be extremely interested and enjoyed my afternoon there. This was mainly due to the staff, in particular the nice, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, who showed us around the mill. It was evident that he had a great knowledge of the mill,... More

It was really interesting seeing round this old mill. The chap responsible for the workings of the mill was very interesting and information, clearly knowing a lot about the history and running of the mill. On Sundays, subject to numbers, they do milling demonstrations, which we'd like to see another time.

This is a nice place to go for a quiet Sunday afternoon! The mill is very interesting and it's good to see things from a time gone by in working order! The walk around the mill is very nice and a great escape! But beware the swan guarding the path! Wouldn't budge for us so had to turn back (... More
