This ex railway line offers a pleasant walk from Duthie Park near the centre of Aberdeen for approx 7 miles to the suburb of Peterculter. Its tarmac for most of the way and is level by virtue of its past as a rail line. There are some good views across to the River Dee valley once you get to the... More

Old railway line is now a walking/cycling/jogging route from Aberdeen (starts Duthie Park) to Ballater, except no path from Banchory to Potarch but one can still complete this section on the Deeside way south of river Dee. Thus no motorised vehicles & so very safe for all ages. Busy in Aberdeen section, look out for cyclists. Beautiful scenery as one... More

We cycled from Aberdeen to Ballater (about 45 miles) on the Deeside Way on 23 May 2014. Overall it was great, with decent surfaces (we were on skinny-tired road bikes) and clear signs, but there are a couple of bits to look out for: - the section through Blackhall Forest from Banchory is on trails which are pretty rough and... Beautiful place to walk/cycle/roller blade along. Always friendly people walking by keen for a chat about the weather! So many places to stop and visit along the walk. Full of history with some coach houses and old platforms along the way

This is a fantastic cycle/walking route, safe and excellent for all the family to use. Well maintained and very popular with walkers, cyclists and Horse riders.

The cycle to Ballater from Aberdeen (Duthie Park) is about 45 miles, and is overall a pleasant experience - for one exception. There is no cycle path or anything of that sort from Kincardine O'Neil to Aboyne. From Duthie Park to King George V Park in Banchory is very straight forward and simple to cycle. A few bits are along... More

Nice easy route for a run. Some nice views at some points! Tarmac so you shouldn't get mucky trainers!
