Craigievar Castle is only available to view via guided tour, however don't let that put you off!! Tours are every 30 minutes and the guides are great, informative and bring the castle to light - far better than guidesheets in rooms any day!

We visited this Castle first on our tour of 3 castles in 1 day. Really quaint Castle that stands out from the countryside with its pinkish tint. The surrounding gardens and walks are fabulous. Had a great guide in my brother in law who lives in Aberdeen and volunteers at Drum Castle. He took us on a walk to see... More

This castle has been lived in until the 1900s and it is completely furnished. Interesting to see how previous generations lived. Knowledgeable tour guide who had an answer to everything. Only 4 stars because the price is a bit hefty (gbp 12 for adults).

We didn't have time to wait for a tour of the inside of this castle but it was great to visit and see the location and a close up of the baronial style of architecture. A nice drive up and great views of the wonderful surrounding countryside.

This tower house is the best example that I have come across. Be sure to arrive in time for the last tour which starts at 4.30pm (I think). The guided tour is very good and our guide really knew his history. Some of the rooms are accessed by steep spiral staircases and we even went up onto the roof which... More

Craigievar Castle stands on the west side of a valley in the beautiful rolling countryside. When you come up the single track road, you suddenly come across a pink tower. This not what you would expect a castle to be. We took the guided tour which is done in small groups. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered most of... More

Craigievar Castle is definitely worth a visit. Generally you join a tour of which there are about 3 every hour. The house is very well preserved with a lot of the original plastered ceilings and wooden cladding on the walls. The guide that we had was very knowledgable and really made the tour worthwhile. Go up to the platform on... More

Well worth a visit, although difficult or impossible for the mobility impaired due to the narrow, winding staircase connecting the seven levels of the castle. Although it was actually occupied by family members until the mid-1960s, the only electricity is supplied by a cable and there is very little plumbing. Nevertheless, the furnishings and memorabilia are well-preserved and displayed. The... More

Castle is not as large as others in the area, but it's still worth spending a couple of hours. You're taken around by a tour guide since the paths and rooms can be quite small. However, tour times can be sporadic based on staff availability - when we visited, during the August peak, tours were every hour. If you miss... More
