It was a little hard to find Craigievar Castle with the Google directions, which were wrong on both distances and directions for the turns. This is a pretty popular castle, so luckily there were attraction road signs. The maps in our Fodor's guidebook were helpful too. Craigievar has guided tours only, no wandering about on your own. At £12.50 per... More

The Craigievar Castle is a great small and off the beat castle to visit. The grounds which the castle are well kept and have great views of the surrounding area. There are paths to walk and a tour which you can take in the castle. To be honest, while the castle is great the drive getting there is what is... More

I have visited this wonderful castle more times than I can remember, but it is always a joy to return to what must be the most original and unaltered of all Scotland's public tower-houses. It is instantly striking from the very first glimpse, and the pleasure just increases room by room as the beautiful ceilings, panelling and furnishings are displayed... More

Craigievar Castle is located in the woods, and appears to the visitor as you round the last curve. The tour guides are knowledgable, and so personable that the tours are a delight. We learned a great deal about castle construction, and the daily life there, as well as about Craigievar, specifically. Lots of stair climbing is required, and even the... More

This was our first trip to this castle and like other Scottish castles it has its own uniqueness. Has a very informative guided tour and the gentleman that was our tour guide had a wealth of information. Well worth to trip from Aberdeen.

Hubby really enjoyed this castle. It was only available to view via a guided tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and you could ask questions as you went along. The tour was about an hour in length. I thought this a tad too drawn out but hubby was engrossed. Free to Trust members so price was not a consideration.... More

Some believe that Craigievar Castle was the inspiration for the Disney Castle in Florida. You can only tour the property with a guide. The lady who showed us round was very well informed, answering additional questions too. it was a most enjoyable 45 minutes and then we went on one of the woodland walks in the grounds. Admission is free... More

Guided tour of this property with a well informed guide. The guide informed us of the castles (and family) history with some information on the restoration work carried out. The tour was just over an hour in length. (you can ask questions) We split our party into 2 so we could walk the dogs round the woodland walk while the... More
