Peadar O'Donnels, the home of Live traditional & contemporary music in Derry. On our premises we have 3 different bars – Peadar O’Donnells, the Gweedore Bar and Gweedore Upstairs. Peadars is known throughout the world and is a must visit location for the many tourists that flock to Derry in ever increasing numbers. We are famous for, among other things, our live music which is largely organised but has regular impromptu sessions from either local musicians or visiting performers. Whichever of our bars you would like to visit, you are guaranteed a warm welcome, a good time and the best pint of Guinness in Derry!

An absolutely brilliant pub, best in Derry in my opinion. Great atmosphere, great pints, friendly staff & great music. Ive never been in an pub where both traditions are celebrated. You have orange sashes & lambeg drums hanging from the ceiling & A.O.H regalia & Tricolors hanging from the ceilings right beside one another. 10/10

This is what every Irish pub should be like. The staff and the locals are very friendly and the traditional music was absolutely wonderful. I went here as part of a pub crawl and there was no music when we met up there but the place was very lively when we returned at the end of the pub crawl. This... More

This place was my favourite irish bar on my northern irish trip. They have irish music every night. it has a really good mix of locals and visitors. We had around twenty people on our pub crawl and it didnt feel like we were intruding. The locals were very friendly and quite happy to talk to us tourists. The guinness... More

Visited the bar on a Saturday night after recommendations - two bands playing in adjacent rooms (one Traditional Irish, the other a Rock tribute), served pleasantly with a smile and a chat. Not to mention the round if drinks is cheap as well. Well worth hunting this place out!

A really great authentic Irish pub with even a pig's head hanging over the bar! (I was told that Irish pubs used to act as shops too in the old days). We arrived with the Historic Derry pub Tour (I recommend it) and a really fun band was playing traditional Irish music, I even danced with a local guy. It... More

Thank you for your review of our bar . You're right, the mix of liquor and groceries was a feature of bars in this part of the world years ago . We're glad you also enjoyed the music and that you had a wee dance with one of the locals . More

Excellent to walk in to the bar on a week night and hear traditional Irish music being played. Excellent legendary singer Dougie Breslin can be found here at least once a week.

I've had the pleasure of staying in Derry on two occasions and both times visited this bar, this time was for the Derry Walled Marathon. On the Saturday I noticed people enjoying tasty soup and stew turns out this is free, there where American tourists sitting inside the door who where well impressed when they went to to pay for... After fantastic day at Radio 1s big weekend a group of friends tried to go to the Gweedore bar for a drink on Sunday evening only to be told the bar was full. That was fine it was a really busy weekend in the city and also a bank holiday so we were deciding where else we could go. I... More

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience while trying to get into our pub . According to your account you were treated unfairly and spoken to in a rude manner by one of the door staff . These door staff are hired in from an outside agency and their training ( including , I presume training on... More

I have lived in Ireland for 12 years and this was the best traditional night I have ever had. The place is small and it was literally heaving. The music was excellent, with the band stopped for impromptu performances from the floor. All with massive applause and plenty of drink. There were tourists in the bar for sure, but this... More

Lovely friendly bar with very hospitable people. It has regulalr live music which can go on into the early hours. Definitely worth the visit and stay to hear the bands and dance with friendly regulars. A Derry 'must see'
