This is one outstanding cathedral. Worth the 15 minute walk from the historic part of the city. A great place for quiet contemplation.

This is a magnificent building at the top of William Street, on the city side of Derry. It cost 40,000 pounds to build, of which 4,000 was raised in America. The bell tower, spire and stained glass windows were added later, due to lack of funds at the time. I'm not religious, but enjoy seeing these old cathedrals and churches,... More

We were staying in Marlborough Street, which is just around the corner from the Cathedral. we got given the story of the public subscriptions that enabled the Cathedral to be built. Worth a visit if you are into churches.

You don't have to be religious to love this place. This is a remarkable renovation -- if you appreciate the art of restoring a sacred space, this is a not-to-be-missed stop in Derry. We found it moving (an atheist and a Jewish person) and peaceful. Super interesting if you learn a bit about how long it has been there and... More

A wonderful cathedral in the center of the city, with masses every day. Lots of history and situated in the middle of what used to be a riot hot spot. Great architecture.

I liked the atmosphere of peace and tranquility. This is an historic building that has been a part of life in Derry for so long.

Lovely welcome from the priest when I said I was a visitor. Exquisite choir singing throughout the service. Bought a guide book about the history and showing pictures of previous Bishops. Beautiful stained glass windows. The building was light and airey and decorated in tasteful pastel colours. Wonderful tranquil atmosphere for prayer and meditation.
