Ok, so I haven't taken all Ireland tours, but the high level of knowledge, energy, excitement and humor exhibited by Ronan as we walked the Derry walls was incomparable. His tour was built into C.I.E.'s Northern Welcome coach tour and it was easily among the highlights of our nine day adventure. And fortunately for us, there were only 7 of... More

On 6th May 2015, as part of our wonderful C.I.E. 'Jewels of Ireland' tour, we took part in a McNamara's Famous Guided Walking Tour of Derry / Londonderry. We were indeed privileged to have as our guide, Garvan. In his knowledgeable and jovial fashion, he led us on a very interesting and entertaining walk, as well as accompanying us on... More

Ronan is a wonderful tour guide. He combines humor with seriousness and explained the Irish conflicts better than any other tour guide I have come across over the past week in Ireland. Our tour group mostly consisted of older people, and Ronan geared the tour toward them. The pace was relaxed but still engaging. By including stories about his family... More

Ronan McNamara enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a guide who shows off his city of Derry brilliantly, presenting its troubled history with wit, even-handedness and compassion. I cannot recommend him too highly!!

This was an excellent tour with Ronan who proved to be an eloquent, knowledgeable and experienced guide whose passion for the city of Derry is patently obvious. The tour lasted longer than the hour we expected and I could gladly have spent another hour in his company and surely will on our next visit here. His narrative is enlightening, educational... More

In our recent trip to Ireland and Scotland - this was, by far, one of my favorite moments. Ronan is captivating and very respectful of the heritage and political climate of Northern Ireland. His presentation was so captivating. Truly could have spent all day listening to his reflections and historical accounts of this area. I would recommend this tour to... More

I worked as a tour leader for three years, taking groups of 50 persons through the UK and Ireland. The tour that Ronan provides was consistently THE highlight of a three-week tour for a significant portion of each group. His knowledge, insight and interpersonal manners make for a moving and thought-provoking experience. Seeing first-hand the positive reactions of hundreds from... More

Our Trafalgar tour booked a local guide for our time in Derry Londonderry. We were incredibly fortunate to walk the city walls with Ronan. Ronan painted a thoughtful well-balanced picture of the past and present and shared a hopeful message about the future of his beloved city. I came away with a deeper appreciation of the peace work that has... More

I arrived in Derry in January with a group of university students expecting a tour to be booked for us. Finding that it hadn't, our driver suggested Ronan McNamara and we were able to book him at the last minute. I will now book no other guide when I bring students to Derry -- he was magnificent. He understood the... More

We did a walking tour of this area while on a Royal Irish Tour and it was amazing. Initially I was a little wary, thinking it would be nicer to explore the town rather then go on a walking tour... But I was dead wrong. Ronan's passion, knowledge and personality make this a must-do. I learned so much about the... More
