This was my second visit to Northern Ireland. Each time becomes more memorable thanks to the expertise of Michael Cooper with Derry Blue Badge Guides. Michael built an itinerary incorporating several highlights: the city of Derry, the Inishowen peninsula of Donegal, the Donegal Highlands with stops at the extraordinary Glenveagh Castle and Gardens and Donegal Castle in Donegal Town. There... More

Michael showed my wife and me his Ireland, especially Northern Ireland, for 3 1/2 days in late May. From Derry to Belfast he brought history alive. Michael is wonderfully knowledgeable in early history and Irish Lore, in recent history, and in current customs, politics and economic events. We learned about the too-often fatal encounters in Derry and Belfast and saw... More

Michael gave us a great half day tour of Inishowen on a blustery spring day. He is a very talented guide - he has a very natural and conversational approach to sharing his extensive knowledge of history and personal experience with the area. Having a tour with him felt more like having a friend take you round and show you... More

We did a GOT tour with Michael last week. He was extremely well informed and forthcoming with information, particularly on Ireland, and its politics, culture, history - which made our 6 hours together very interesting and full of knowledge. Added to this was his very pleasant personality and cheerful and helpful attitude. This was Michael's first GOT tour and we... More

Mr. Cooper is one of those rare guides who is absolutely riveting. He brought the history of Belfast alive for our group and made us vividly aware of the present in ways I never expected. His accent is musical, but easily understood, even to those of us from the American South! His voice easily carried to the entire group on... More

Michael was just superb. He did a tailor-made taxi tour for my wife & me, picking us up outside our B&B, then across the border to East Donegal, to do a bit of genealogy research, then finishing up with a great tour of Derry itself, ending up in the Bogside before dropping us off again. It was also great to... More

This was a most interesting and informative tour. I was in awe of his knowledge and his lovely Irish lilt. The view over Derry was amazing with the beautiful bridge in the foreground.

As part of a larger tour to the British Isles, we were fortunate to have a tour of Belfast and Derry led by Michael Cooper. Beyond being warm and personable, Michael has a voluminous knowledge of Ireland, its history and political situation. His love of Ireland is evident and we left with a huge amount of information and a beginning... More

Recently, as part of a Ritz Tours group, I was fortunate to be guided through Belfast and Derry by Michael Cooper. The depth and breadth of his knowledge of Irish history and culture are impressive and illuminating. He conveyed his information with confidence, infectious humor, and such pride in his Irish heritage that kept us captivated and curious for more... More
