Having the opportunity to play at such a highly ranked course was exciting and it didn't disappoint. Superb course and the caddy my husband booked was the best caddy we encountered on our 7 week golfing holiday. Afterwards we enjoyed a drink and snack overlooking the course. A memorable experience

First, my foursome was made to feel very welcome. I felt as if the club personnel really wanted us to be there and have a great experience--- there wasn't the slightest bit of snootiness. The course is fair but very difficult. It's hard for the 10-12 handicapper to avoid a couple big numbers, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment.... More

We were her for the Senior Amateur Golf, and it was still buzzing from the Irish Open. Kevin and the staff in the pro shop were so helpful, and the course... we were in heaven...would we play again.. Definitely yes

There is a tremendous amount of hype about RCD. But when all is said and done the course lives up to the hype. Perhaps too many blind drives and the closing holes not quite as awesome as the opening means its not perfect. But its pretty darn close. The hushed and reverential whispers on the 1st tee make it feel... More

Easily lives up to its Golf Digest rating of 4th best course in the world and best course outside of United States. Was fun to play. Designed by Old Tom Morris and was quirky fun like Lahinch and the Old Course at St Andrews. This course is a must for the avid golfer.

We played 10 rounds in NI and ROI and only got rained on once and it was at Royal County Down. We hire 2 trainee caddies and 2 'regular' caddies. The trainees were just that and basically someone to carry your bag. For advice on lines, putts etc you want a 'regular' or 'senior' caddie. All were good spirits and... More

A demanding classic links layout which required skilful approach shots to hold the greens. RCD is rated one of the world's best and our party of 16 loved the experience. Suggest you take a fore caddie as there are lots of hidden holes and their advice will save you lots of shots.

My favorite golf course in the world. Great layout, great conditioning, great views with Mourne mountains in the background. Very inviting to guests unlike many courses of this stature, very causal attitude also which I loved. A few too many blind shots for my liking but doesn't take away from my rating. Tough track so get a caddie to help... More

Royal County Downs golf club is a very difficult links course that is not for the average golfer. Several holes require carry off the tee of around 200 yards to hit the fairway. The carry must also be on 'line' or the ball will be in a very challenging rough. Course is not for the faint at heart when it... More

Stunning location under the Mourne mountains Fills your soul with total joy pack plenty of balls and if not with a local get a caddy for the craic and the local knowledge as there are alot of things to know about what this course has hidden for the unsuspecting golfer. Dont worry about your score just breath the air take... More
