If you enjoy the outdoors you will enjoy Castlewellan Forest Park. If you get the weather it is a great place for a picnic but regardless of the weather it is a great place for a good hike. The walk around the lake is great, but for some fun get yourself lost in the Peace maze planted in the year... More

Went to Castlewellan Forest for a walk a couple of weeks ago. On arrival I Purchased my car ticket (£5) even though it says £4 on the board??? Parked and began our walk, not 5 minutes into our walk we seen a sign, path closed, as the lake had flooded the path? So we paid a £5 to get in... More

We visited in October half term and had a lovely time. We all thoroughly enjoyed feeding the ducks and the walk around the lake which burned off a few calories after our picnic!!

We often walk in The Mournes but due to not wanting to aggravate an injury by slipping on the likes of wet rocks we just went in to the forest park. It costs a few pound to park the car but as it needs upkeep we were happy to pay at the hut and we asked for a map (free).... More

The forest park is an amazing place to bring the family, there's a castle, and a record holding maze, as well as a large lake which is perfect to walk around

Park was really clean and the maze was brilliant. Cafe staff were amazing, my son fell and bumped his head and I brought him to the cafe to get some ice and they immediately brought me out ice wrapped in tissue and give my son and daughter free ice lollies. They were amazing help, I will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed this. We were checking out the Maze when we came across an employee with a twinkle in his eye -and he was fab. He showed us the best place to camp - then advised us to go up to the Castle and the Gardens - and we were blown away by the beauty of the place. We are... More

Breathtaking forest park. Beautiful lake. Great for a walk or cycle. You can also kayak on the lake in Summer. Great family day out.

This place is excellent for outdoor pursuits, walking, biking, kayaking etc. Other than that there isn't much more to it. Yes there is a maze, however it hasn't been maintained and there are holes in the hedges created by lost/frustrated/lazy visitors as a means to finish the maze quickly. There is 1 slide and climbing frame close by. For families... More

Love Castlewellan lake and had a lovely walk on a nice sunny Saturday.would recommend it to anyone except for the hoards of mountain bikers who sadly don't seem to care too much about us normal people who just want to appreciate nature. After nearly getting run over several times by these rude morons on 2 wheels we decided to seek... More
