Went here for a picnic and to look around the peace maze. Car entry was £4.50; which is a little expensive I suppose. Had a picnic under a tree which was nice and then had a go at the maze, which was pretty fun. Lots of open space and I'd love to go back and try camping here! Lots of... More

There are several trails to follow some of which double up as bike tracks. We did the 'black' arrows one. 11 kilometres I think it was. When you stop to look around there is complete silence apart from wind in trees and birdsong. No traffic noise at all. Saw several birds of prey in the more open parts. It's not... More

There are no end of activities to take part in at Castlewellan. One of the more family orientated spaces in a Northern Ireland, Castlewellan also caters to groups and thousands of scouting groups that camp here every year. Take in the castle and gardens. Ask the wardens about the WWII stories. Go swimming or canoeing in the lake. Camp. Relax.... More

The walk around the lake is very relaxing and very do-able at about 3 miles. Brilliant maze near the exit...think it may be the biggest in Europe. Very well kept. Perfect for picnics, walkers. runners and cyclists. Mourne mountains in sight too, beautiful.

What a superb place. The castle and lake are breathtaking. There are miles of beautiful walks/cycle paths. The fresh air is perfumed with the great forest of trees. Camping is available for tents or caravans with acres of space. The lake has boats for hire and the peace and tranquility whilst on the water has to be experienced . Such... More

It's a place of beauty and silence. Just on the back of the little village with the same name, there is this magnificent park very well looked-after. There are exotic trees, some of which were planted in the XVIII century, a nice lake, a castle of the XIX century now hosting conferences and several beautiful forest paths. Highly recommended.

Stayed in the camp. Beautiful scenery with lake, castle & the forest. Great mtb trails in the forest. Amusing giant natural labyrinth (2nd largest in the world) and excellent pro bike pump track. Local roads almost empty, good for road cycling. Fun for singles, families or friends alike. Cosy Castelwellan town with pubs in walking distance.

Brilliant place for a walk; freedom for us, children and our dog. Café was undergoing work and was not open when we visited but this did not spoil our visit.
