A must see if you visit castlewellan

The forest park is an amazing place to bring the family, there's a castle, and a record holding maze, as well as a large lake which is perfect to walk around

Park was really clean and the maze was brilliant. Cafe staff were amazing, my son fell and bumped his head and I brought him to the cafe to get some ice and they immediately brought me out ice wrapped in tissue and give my son and daughter free ice lollies. They were amazing help, I will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed this. We were checking out the Maze when we came across an employee with a twinkle in his eye -and he was fab. He showed us the best place to camp - then advised us to go up to the Castle and the Gardens - and we were blown away by the beauty of the place. We are... More

Breathtaking forest park. Beautiful lake. Great for a walk or cycle. You can also kayak on the lake in Summer. Great family day out.

This place is excellent for outdoor pursuits, walking, biking, kayaking etc. Other than that there isn't much more to it. Yes there is a maze, however it hasn't been maintained and there are holes in the hedges created by lost/frustrated/lazy visitors as a means to finish the maze quickly. There is 1 slide and climbing frame close by. For families... More

Love Castlewellan lake and had a lovely walk on a nice sunny Saturday.would recommend it to anyone except for the hoards of mountain bikers who sadly don't seem to care too much about us normal people who just want to appreciate nature. After nearly getting run over several times by these rude morons on 2 wheels we decided to seek... More

This is a really lovely spot, with something for all the family. Stunning scenery, lakes woods and the Mourne Mountains. Here is The home to the National Arboretum of Ireland, set in the old walled gardens of the castle and containing some magnificent tree specimens, including 50 'champions' - the largest in the country. Not forgetting Ireland's largest hedge maze... More

Best £5 I spent over the summer. Kids loved the maze. My Mum loved the spectacular views over the Mountains of Mourne. The dog loved the walk round the beautiful lake and the husband had great fun cooking sausages on our little camp stove before we all set off for home. Plenty of parking. Lovely little coffee shop. Fantastic day... More

Liked the 3 nights we spent here, the walks are the best ever, so many different ones, short and long, and the walk to the garden and around it was awesome, shame them greenhouses haven't had anything finished in them, they would make spectacular viewing if only they would finish them. There is one very large field for touring caravans... More
