Really horrible service here tonight. Friend was buying drinks at the bar, asked for Koppaberg and they gave her a bottle of something else which they said was the same - tasted nothing like it. Went up to complain, young guy at the bar was exceedingly rude: "We won't be swapping it, everyone else likes it." Friend went up to... More

Nice pub with a friendly staff and atmosphere in the center of the most interesting part of Belfast. We had heard about the fine trad music sessions but the quality of the food was a big surprise, it is way over and above any standard pub food.

Although I now live in England, the John Hewitt will always remain my local and it's always one of my first ports of call in the city. Whenever I'm back home in Belfast I try to get out for a few beers and some grub in the Hewitt - in over 10 years of drinking there I've never had a... More

Walking aimlessly Sat nite looking for some music when we happened upon this pub. A group of people were having what looked like an impromptu music session, and it was before 8 pm. Apparently most trad music occurs closer to 11pm in Belfast.

We always pop in for a pint after the the rigors of playing with 3 grandkids on our regular visits to Belfast .The atmosphere of this place is first class ,the service is spot on and the mix of musoc chat and laughter from the broad cross section of humanity is great AND any pub that calls itself after the... Stopped here yesterday for lunch whilst in Belfast for the Giro D'Italia. Tucked away in a scruffy street with a pretty uninviting frontage. Nice old fashioned pub inside I was greeted by a friendly waiter and seated in the window which was good as a lone diner I could watch the world go by. I had a vouchers for a... More

a fantastic traditional bar and well worth a visit not least to see the artwork for sale, and to hear whomever has popped in to play... very laid back and rough and ready as a good old fashioned pub should be.
