This forest is one of my favourite haunts. It is the former home of the Hill family who had a massive estate house here. There is an old Norman motte tactically guarding the river that dates back to circa 1177. Unfortunately there is nothing left of the estate house other than the stables which are now home to the RSPB... More

A forest park in suburbia. Part of the landscape park and demesne of now-demolished Belvoir House, it was acquired by Forest Service and open areas were planted with evergreens. Belvoir is a joy to experience and seasoned walkers would enjoy the choice of trails and the stunning scenery. Depending on which trail you choose - these are signposted well - you can spend up to two hours walking amidst magnificent trees and local wildlife. There is a car park, no charge, but local council saw fit a while ago... More
