The Grand Opera House in Belfast is Northern Ireland's premier theatre, presenting a range of drama, dance, opera, comedy, musicals, pantomime, family and West End shows. Established in 1895, the theatre boasts the majestic Victorian main auditorium designed by renowned architect Frank Matcham. Extended in 2006, the original building has been joined by a striking addition to Belfast's skyline, The Baby Grand. The initiate studio is home to a smaller performance space with 100 seats. Northern Ireland's premier theatre delivers an outstanding programme of entertainment, playing host to some of the greatest names in theatre and music. The theatre boasts a wide array of popular shows; everything from opera and drama to pantomime, comedy and musicals. The Grand Opera House offers unrivalled corporate hospitality with tailored events packages and is the perfect venue for meetings, special events and conferences of all sizes. The historical theatre is one of the most unique conference venues in Belfast, catering for seminars, conferences, meetings and weddings for up to 130 people in the Baby Grand Studio. The Main Auditorium holds up to 1060 people and smaller meeting rooms are also available. The theatre bars stock a range of drinks including beer, wine and spirits, in addition to tea and coffee.

The opera house is a beautiful historic building which is an asset to Belfast. The only problem is that parts of it are looking tired. For example the sound isn't always the best and the seats are looking a bit old and worn. Not to mention the smell from the toilets! Definitely visit on a trip to Belfast as you... More

We're not regular theatre-goers but have been to the GOH twice in the past six months. Great venue with lots of character. Very helpful and friendly staff. Queues for snacks and drinks were very long on our last visit - was this facility understaffed? To be honest it was quicker (and cheaper!) to slip across the road. But we certainly... More

We saw "Grease" in the Opera House. An amazing huge cast of wonderfully talented young people. My partner has seen Grease many times with school to professional productions. She said it was without doubt the best she had ever seen. Couple that with the beautifully restored 120 year old Opera House and you have a 10 out of 10.

I have been both in the audience and on stage and nowhere can beat the GOH. however the new foyer is a bit characterless, if I'm honest. The performances and ambiance int he theatre mean that I forget the foyer once Im there! a jewel in NIs crown!

Beautiful theatre with a modern entrance. Love the Grand Opera House, it's a real treat. Much smaller than the waterfront but I prefer it. Right in the city centre so you can do some shopping also. Unfortunately they no longer do food which is s pity but lots of good restaurants nearby

The Grand Opera House is a must see if you visit Belfast. Its just beside the Europa hotel and across the road from the Crown Saloon and Robinsons bar. So, go to a play and then across the street for a drink or ten. The Opera house itself is stunningly beautiful. You must see the ceiling and the private boxes... More
