Great old pub with loads of character both in the brickwork and its eclectic clientele. Landlady seemed to know everyone so a locals bar but tourist seemed very welcome too. Live music later in the evening was good and added to the atmosphere. Highly recommend for late afternoon / early evening (we didn't stay later so can't comment)

We three ladies visited here on Monday the 19th October. We ate in the downstairs bar area. Two of us had the pie of the day and our friend had the boxty dish. Both were delicious. Leanne our waitress was efficient and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Noticed this venue on our first night here four days ago and just knew we had to eat here. I had never eaten steak on a lava stone, and this is something that most definitely must be tried. The steak of your choice arrives on a lava stone (be aware the stone is 450 degrees so don't touch the stone!).... More

Went here for carvery it was pretty grim the meat was tasteless the veg overcooked. We ordered a sweet and only one turned up. The chef had filthy uniform on and was using a dirty tea towel. Unfortunately the toilets were a disgrace and surprise surprise I ended up with stomach ache.

Great bar if you get the chance to visit, Guinness is fantastic, sport on TV and the staff are very friendly. It's a good alternative option on the way to or from an event in either Odyssey or Waterfront as it's not too far away for either drinks or food!!

Recently on vacation in Belfast. We had supper at McHugh's 2 nights in a row because the food was soooo good and the service, thanks Lucy, was excellent. We highly recommend it for the food, service and value. If we're ever in Belfast again we will definitely being eating at McHugh's :)

4 of us dined early evening last week prior to going to see Lionel Ritchie at the Odyssey Arena. Special offer, buy 1 starter and get 2nd starter free, which we enjoyed. Followed up with mains, which were all very enjoyable, with a bottle of wine to accompany. Waiter was very friendly and service was good despite being busy. Finally... More

We brought my Dad here for a quick pint before getting a pint to eat. A lovely pint of Guinness, an historic building, and a very friendly barman who was happy to indulge my Dad pretending to know about Irish whiskey! He even let him sniff one of the really expensive ones! Not sure about evenings, but for an afternoon/early... More

Had a meal and drinks here on a trip to Belfast. The pub has a lot of character being fairly old but needs a bit of loving care in some areas. Where we sat, the walls were all scraped and the foam was sticking out of the chairs. The food was good and the service was very friendly. It was... More
