Now the place is called Pennard Castle . At one point this must of been a majorly proud Castle protruding on the Vista like a Chippendale's appendage but now like all of us time has taken its toll and it is a mere flaccid sight of its former self. Now i grew up in Pennard as a boy/teenager and have... More

We also found Pennard Castle after walking through some of the golf course. Some friendly gentlemen helped point us in a good (& safer!) direction so that was good too! It is only small but it's free & there are beautiful views of the area & three cliffs. There isn't any info there about the castle so reading up on... More

Finding Pennard Castle can be quite a task, but if you head towards the golf club and park around that area (near post office) you'll see the castle across the golf course. The sign says that you can cross the golf course, however when my family and I did, golfers were teeing off in our direction even though we were... More

Take a stroll to the castle, sit and take in the view. (If walking through the golf course watch out for balls) That's all.

Walked across to the castle via the public footpath across the golf course and common, well marked so no problems, if you want to visit I would suggest parking on a side road next to the school and cross the road onto the common. Lovely views and on the way you will pass the old ww2 water tower, no disused,... More

What do you want of a castle? This ruin is indeed in a stunning position overlooking Three Cliffs Bay and beach, and the Pennard valley, but there is in fact little left of the castle and no explanatory boards about the building. Climb up to enjoy the view, but don't bother if you want to advance your understanding of castles.

Pennard castle situated on the cliff tops alongside Pennard golf course has to be one of the most amazing views in the UK. There are many tracks to choose to get to the castle itself but I would recommend the golf course or sandy lane for anyone unable to do a bit of steep walking. Once you get to the... More

Don't go across the golf course as the players will shout at you (and a number of people have been injured by golf balls I'm told) The castle is only a gatehouse and bits of wall really, but it does have a stunning view of the river valley below.

How anyone can rate this as average is beyond my comprehension1 The walk to the castle from whichever direction you approach is fabulous in all weathers. The castle appears sombre in the grey of winter and lights up with the sun pouring through the windows and arch in summer, giving a glimpse of the fantastic and unspoilt Three Cliffs Bay. You...
