I have known this place for thirty-five years now - sometimes visiting several times a year and sometimes not visiting for years on end. It's always different - and yet the same. It really is a place to sit, reflect and remember; for me - a bit Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I love it.

If you are in Cardiff City Centre and just want to escape for a short while then this park is perfect. Situated along the stretch from Town to the Museum it is full of well placed benches, beautiful monuments and lovely plants.

Although very central, and with a number of interesting monuments as well as nice flowers etc, this park seemed very quiet and peaceful.

The three Old Dames of City Hall, the National Museum and the Law Courts offer a great vista of classic architecture, but behind them there are many smaller gems and park space offering a great location for peace and solitude in the centre of a capital city. Cardiff can be proud of its world class civic centre.

Very nice place, especially in Autumn. I used to love coming here with some friends to sit on the park bench and have a chat. Very calming, and surrounded by beautiful architecture.

Surrounded by the grand white university and council buildings, this park is quite grand despite being small. The sculptures within the park are also impressive, along with the flower beds in summer time. A perfect place to relax in the city.

Although the park is not overly large, the flowering trees, sculptures, memorials, and beautiful architecture lining its borders make it well worth a visit.

Cathays Park is an integral part of Cardiff's Civic Centre. Consisting of three garden areas - Alexandra Gardens, Gorsedd Gardens and Friary Gardens - it consists of high quality formal parks forming green spaces between a number of impressive buildings. All of the spaces are within Conservation Areas and many of the surrounding buildings are listed. The open spaces are... More

Grab yourself a welcome break and take or walk through this park. With flower beds from spring till autumn it is well layed out and colourful. There are benches but sadly not enough. With several significant war memorials the park provides a time to reflect. Not often do you have an opportunity to consider what so many service personnel did... More

Cathays Park is set in peaceful surroundings yet only a 5 minute stroll from the main shopping centre at Queen St. Apart from the usual array of shrubs and flower beds, the park houses the Centotaph. The park is tranquil located immediately behind the City Hal, which was the former headquarters of Cardiff Council, although many services remain there. The... More
