I, like many others travelled to RWCMD for a music college audition. The building overwhelmed me the moment I laid eye upon its fantastic steely wooden exterior (which played havoc upon my nerves!). The student guides were a delight and helped me no end with my questions, sitting me in a very comfortable chair over looking the gardens/park.

Great place for a coffee and or light lunch. large out door decking area. The rehearsal noise form the students nearby adds to the ambience.

Last night we greatly enjoyed a performance by the Student's Brass section but did not enjoy being charged £34.90 for 2 plates of tapas & a bottle of Rioja. My portion consisted of but 4 small battered calamari rings & my wife's 3 shreds of chicken. We were disgusted!

Like many others, I came here as my daughter had an audition. It is a wonderful building with such a creative energy. All the staff I spoke to were immensely kind , polite and helpful.(For example, I ran out of cash and the lovely receptionist led me to the cash point in the students canteen.)The food was good and the... Go to a concert in the Dora Stoutzker hall and then an interval drink - and take a look out of the huge back windows opening out onto Bute Park - the view is different every time I go. Superb acoustics.

Sat in the canteen whilst my son does his audition to come here... just listening to the buzz of the current students as they come and go, it really does strike me as a happy and creative place to be. Ohh and the coffee is pretty good to Fingers crossed

This is a jewel. This is an iconic venue for concerts, recitals and also a great place for jazz (free) on a friday evening. Definitely worth calling on for a coffee also!

I'm ashamed to say that despite being local to cardiff and someone who enjoys live performance, I'd never been to the royal welsh. Found their web site very easy to use, booked tickets for the Richard Burton Company's rendition of Nöel Coward's Hay Fever. Given good advice on parking, disabled parking spaces close to the venue, other public parking nearby... More

I was here for the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2013 - went to some masterclasses as well as the competition final. What a wonderful venue for such an event ! Thoroughly enjoyed it
