Built for the Bute family, who built Cardiff Docks, Just off Junc 32 of the M4, towers are visible over the top of the tree line. Used for tv productions, not very big, but an interesting building.

Had a great trip to the restored medieval Castle Coch, just outside Cardiff. Do go inside, the banqueting room and the bedrooms are absolutely stunning. The paint work and carving are a classic example of Gothic revival in the late 19th century

It's lovely on the outside, but I didn't pay to enter because apparently there is not much to see on the inside. It's worth going because it's just a few minutes off Cardiff.

Well worth the trip out of Cardiff, up the River Taff Valley to Taff's Well. The Marquis of Bute, possibly the wealthiest man in Britain, and restorer of Cardiff Castle, engaged his architect to make him this imitation fairy tale castle. The wood work is first rate, the décor incredibly good for 150 years ago. It is not a real... More

Surrounded by natural beauty and breath taking landscapes, nestled within the mountains through country road sits the outstanding Castell Coch, we took our son up to see the castle, we could only presume he wouldn't be interested at the age of 3, we were wrong, children need to see the culture and way of life through the centuries of wales,... This is a lovely castle just like a fairytale castle, however its very expensive and not very big, you see everything in less than 20minutes, the grounds are beautiful and a free to look at but the actual castle is a little over priced for what you see.

We visited Castle Coch as a couple this summer. The price is reasonable for what you get. It's an old castle but not as old as it looks! Which was a little disappointing for me. The rooms are fairly interesting for those so like history. Included in the entrance fee you get an audio tour which is really useful and... More
