This is a good but small castle on the outskirts of town. Driving there would be the easiest way to get there. It's worth a visit.

This is a most beautiful castle. There is something magical about this place. It just takes me back in time and I can imagine the likes of King Arthur and the knights of the round table. With ladies in long gowns and tall pointed hats - I just loved it here

Visited with family, and were very impressed. As my kids are massive Doctor Who fans, they wanted to visit the castle as it has been used as a location in several episodes. Well worth a visit. Top marks to the guy in the shop who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Who stories filmed there.

Castle cafe is free to enter but you have to pay to walk around the castle. Beautiful countryside to walk or mountain biking is great.

Imagine money was no object and you could indulge your architectural fantasies. Castell Coch is what the Marquess of Bute and William Burges created in the late 1800s. Most of the castles in Wales are partly or totally in ruins, but this place is in tip top order. For a start, it's in a fabulous location with views over the... More

I had seen pictures of this place and had always wanted to visit. We were finally passing and dropped in despite the poor signs. Beautiful location in the middle of a forest adds to the atmosphere. It is actually a Victorian folly but done very well (at enormous expense). Shows the best of late Victorian decoration. Members of English Heritage... More

Completely intact castle due to renovations by William Burges for the Marquess of Bute in Victorian times. The castle has a fairytale appearance with its turrets and drawbridge. It is dazzling and vibrantly decorated throughout with stained glass windows and painted ceilings. The castle has featured in a number of feature films over the years. The interior decorations largely mimic... More

Wonderful place and even more beautiful to get there, the narrow streets, the forest - I didn't get to visit the castle, just the gardens. Worth visiting.

This is an easy 30 minute bus ride from Cardiff and well worth the time investment. The castle is enchanting and is rightfully titles the fairy tale castle! The entrance price is reasonable and comes with a free audio guide so that you may learn the history of the castle. Definitely add this to your list of things to do... More
