We love Castell Coch, and will always take visitors there from out of town. At our most recent visit, we were pleasantly surprised to be able to have the use of an audio tour, which is free. A great addition to the prettiest castle

Enjoyable and different castle to visit Surrounded by trees. Interesting rooms and very colourful. Built as a folly for the 3rd Marquess of Bute. Cannot remember whether there is an entry charge or not, visited September 2013. Well worth a visit

Castell Coch is a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle high above the village of Tongwynlais, to the north of Cardiff in Wales. It takes about 25 minutes to drive here from Cardiff and really is worth the effort. The location itself - set among beautiful forest is very beautiful. The thought that this was a reproduction sort of put me off... More

Passed Castell Coch loads of times over the years whilst travelling along the M4 but never got round to visiting until yesterday. What an amazing place! Would thoroughly recommend a visit.
