I've always wanted togo here since I was a kid. We always drove past it. I wish it had stayed a longing. The entrance fee is over the top. No escort of real interaction with anyone about the history of the place. Desperate need of modernising and refreshing the information that is given as it looked very tired. Poor facilities.... More

It was quite expensive to get in but it was really quiet and it was perfect for a mooch around. We got a nice free tour as well, and a mentioning of Doctor Who! My satnav had no idea where it was so we went on a bit of an adventure to get there! Nice 1/2 day out.

Spent a few hours here as my hotel looked directly across to the castle and it intrigued me to go. You really get a sense of being taken back to times forgotten and with an excellent audio guide you are able to appreciate all there is about Castell Coch...

Castell Coch is a great place to visit (providing steps are not a problem for you as there's an awful lot of them. It was built in the nineteenth century for the Marquis of Bute and designed by the architect William Burges. Although Burges apparently claimed that it bears a resemblance to an earlier castle on the site, this seems... More

Went to Castell Coch with my family. What a lovely place. Informative. Given earpiece and information relayed to you on every room you entered. Fantastic views of the countryside when you get to the top of the castle. Children loved it. Recommend you take a packed lunch with you.

Castell Coch is a great place to visit very close to Cardiff, particularly if you only have a few hours as we did. There is a cost for entry, but you can also get an audio guide which is included in the price. I believe this has only been recently introduced but I thought it was very good and thats... More

Despite possibly having slipped a disk in my back that morning, we came, we saw, we climbed every stair in the castell, and it is one of the most picturesque castles in Wales. Thank you to the staff who were helpful and polite, and thanks to the other visitors who were very patient with the invalid (me) who took about... More

It cost £5,50 to get in to the Castell. Beware all the rooms are off of old narrow winding staircases so if your not good with steps avoid as there is nothing to see except the courtyard and the exterior There are around 8 rooms to see in total they offer a podcast point in each room which is well... I did this as part of a Roam Wales tour. The tour opted to spend time exploring the much larger and free Caerphilly Castle and only walk around the outside of Castle Coch. The castle is pretty with it's red stones. The park it's located in looks like it would make a nice outing for hiking or picnic lunches. From... More
