Lots of reviews which I won't add to. The sign posting is abysmal. Really easy to end up back on the dual carriageway as it is the 4th exit off roundabout (coming from Cardiff). Plenty of signs before and after but no sign at all at the entrance - unless you can read small print on a notice board from... More

Although the castle is not one of the biggest in Wales, it's hard not to feel that you are walking close to Rapunzel's tower. And the forest and small streams around it creates the perfect atmosphere to someone engulf yourself in daydreaming.

Went with a coach load of teachers, not the most exciting castle I have been too. Although the history was interesting. Found the stairs to be difficult to climb so be careful if you have a dissability

This was a fun stop. A historic castle -- with the up-dating only mining magnate money could buy! Restored in the late 1800s by a Bute family member (architect/designer was the same one who did Cardiff Castle manor), it was an interesting visit. If you're a Dr. Who fan, several episodes were filmed here.

The castell is fantastic! We got married there and the staff were fantastic ! Made our special day even more special. The castell is a delight. Quirky, quaint stunning. Hard to imagine that people used the castell as a summer home away from Cardiff Castle . The colours, fabrics and painted woodwork are stunning. We got married in the drawing... More

Set on a wooded hillside on the north of the city near to the M4 motorway this castle looks like a fairytale Bavarian castle. Although not medieval the interior decor is simply stunning and is well worth a visit.

You will have to get transport to get to it either by bus or car or bike. The car park is big and after parking the car you can walk up to the Castle. It is surrounded by a woods of huge trees where you can walk and play and the views over the valley are great. The castle has... More

Nestling in the hills just north of cardiff with good access from Junction 32 of the M4/A470 this castle provides an insight into the opulent country/weekend home of the last Marques of Bute. With beautiful views over the city, this is a great way to spend an afternoon. Set within a beautiful woodland, with lovely walks (study shoes are required),... More
