Fairy Tale come to life

This beautiful little castle was amazing. Lots of stairs, some steep, though. Same architect as Cardiff Castle, which I had seen the night before. Magical.

Costs £5.50 per person £4.10 for children under 16 when we went or £16.50 for a family...it is a lovely building but for the cost and quick you actually go around there we preferred Cardiff castle a 100% more worthy of a visit.

Entry price is quite high, especially if you're a family. The building itself is certainly not toddler-friendly, the shop is expensive.... and it's not a real castle. You'd be better off going to Carreg Cennen Castle. Now that's a real castle.

This is a must on the agenda for locals or visitors to Castell Coch. This folly is situated to the North of Cardiff approximately 8 miles from the city centre set in the village of Tongwynlais. There have been films made there, weddings take place there, walkers and people of all ages interested in this beautiful fairytale castle arrive all... More

After our visit to Castle Caerphilly we were recommended to visit Castle Coch near bye. just a short drive from Caerphilly, Coch Castle first seen poking above the treeline like a fairy castle from Walt Disney. Parking was readily available with Disabled Parking near the entrance. Senior citizen's entrance fee was £4.10, and a free walk around audio guide can... More

Not a castle, but a hunting lodge. And not that red either. It's an attractive building and is an great destination alng the Taff Trail. Looks very fairy tale from the motorway, up close its not quite so imposing.

Remarkable architecture - chateau like in appearance. Rooms are a litttle sparse but still good fun to visit

Today I went for a walk along the Taff trail cycle path and it led me here. Never been before but I've often admired it's magical look from the M4. This is a unique and fairytale like castle which is basically a rich man's house built in the late 18th century. Not very big and not much to look at,... More

Castell Coch, just north of Cardiff City Centre was re-built in the Victorian times to the design of Burgess for Lord Bute as a country home and more or less it is a folly as far as castles go. However don't let this put you off as an hour spent looking around this establishments transports you back to an era... More

This rich mans folly is worth a visit as a curiosity. The audio tour is free and a must. I would advise a visit on a good summers day to take advantage of the pleasant woodland surrounding the building, the snack bar is occasionally open if they have spare staff but only for drinks or snacks of the biscuit and...
