If youre looking for a nice lengthy walk, try parking at the Penarth end of the barrage and walk over to Cardiff Bay. Make sure you wrap up on a windy day as the wind can be quite cutting. Once across the otger side you will find plenty of pkaces to eat and drink. For those not wanting the exercise... More

Very enjoyable and interesting especially when the gates are in action letting yachts through. Also interesting to see the level of sea fall when the tide goes out.

We walked the route in ore of its magnificent surroundings what a city. From the barrage itself you can walk to the millenium centre and onto the Bay itself which hosts an abundance of bars and restaurants of top quality. Take the water taxi to Cardiff Castle which in itself is a superb icon of Cardiffs history

A surprising place we came across on a cycle tour. We had time to look around- the concentric circles round the lock were impressive, and we felt we were at a "real" harbour wall. A good place to take photos. We were stopped on our bikes on the approach on the bridge as the bridge came up to let a... More

Look back at old pictures of Cardiff Bay as it was as a tidal estuary and now go and look at this great structure. It has completely changed the area (for the better? come and see for yourself) I think it has been very well done and is great to walk along on a warm and sunny or a bracing... More

The barrage by itself is pretty common, although an amazing place for pictures and to see the cardiff bay or the sea. We went there by midday and the boats were crossing the barrage, it was one of the most amazing things I ever saw.

We parked in the pay and display car park at the Penarth end of the barrage and it is a very short walk to the actual barrage. Lots of information boards and if you can, hang around to see one of the gates open up to let a boat in or out. You can continue walking past the barrage and... More

A nice day out even if it was wet and raining, loads to see and visit with nice restaurants and bars, you can even visit the "Hub" as seen in the torchwood TV series and have your photo taken by the steel fountain.

The Barrage is better if the weather is warm, as there is a cold breeze that blows in from the sea. You can start either Cardiff Bay end or Penarth end. It is a good walk with interesting things to see along the way. A small out side area where you can find information on Scott of the Antartic. There... More
