It's free, for a start, so no excuses. We went along and were surprised at how well the displays were laid out, lots of thought into making the information an attractive and interesting experience. Then we decided to have a quick look around the gallery too, and found a fantastic collection of pictures. This is a great museum/art gallery. Not... More

We went straight up to the second floor to visit the impressionist exhibit. We were not disappointed. Wonderful Rodan and Degas bronzes interspersed with Monet and Renoir among many others. One of the guards saw how interested we were and suggested the Turner's in gallery 6. You have to take the stairs but it was worth it. On your way... More

Fabulous collection and all for free if you don't want to make a donation. Easy to navigate and housed in a fabulous building. We didn't have a lot of time on our itinerary and it would have been nice to have a more leisurely roam around the many room. Loved the whale. Well worth a visit.

Rich collection of art and natural history - real dinosaur skeletons and moon rock! I've worked in Cardiff for years without knowing how much there was to see and should have visited sooner. Good cafe and shop. Free admission so these treasures are available to everyone.

The art collection was simply amazing, and surprised us with its extent and quality. There is also a very good natural history museum sharing the same attractive venue. There is a cafe and extensive gift shop, as well. Moreover, there is no entrance fee.

Fantastic free museum. You could spend a whole day here. Situated in a quieter area of the city, away from the hustle and bustle. Loved the Chalkie Davies exhibition.

Beautifully maintained building, surprisingly rich collection of first class art, thanks to the original benefactors and I assume Cardiff Council, nowadays! A place not to miss when visiting Cardiff!

an amazing collection of impressionist paintings and sculpture donated to the museum by daughters of an industrialist. the ceramics alone are worth time for browsing and the special shows are well curated. add extra time to your planned visit..you will need it.
