Cardiff Castle is a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion located in the city centre of Cardiff opposite the amazing Castle Arcade. Norman origins date back to the 11th century on top of Roman ruins. The guided tour is well worth taking and only costs a few pounds. As a local resident I am a "key holder" and can... More

I flash visited the castle on a Monday morning with -8°C outside and I was amazed ! The rooms warm and unbelievably beautiful, our guide (with a little introduction in Welsh from which I could only understand "Castell Caerdydd" :) ) was really nice and understandable even with his accent, speaking quite slow (I actually made the visit with a... It is a ruin, but a very well kept one, mostly still in tact, and lots of history, best to get a guide book or have a guide to get the interesting historical information. But even without one you will get great photos and enjoy your visit. I would recomment visiting as part of a day trip with 'Where When... More

Very glad we paid money to explore the castle as it took around 3 hours to fully appreciate, which made it worth the entrance fee, Lots to look at and explore. The museum is quite hidden behind reception and we nearly missed it if we hadn't been and checked out the gift shop afterwards. The view from the top of... More

it's so easy to get to the Castle: just at the end of St Mary Street, after tasting some food or visiting some shops under the Arcades, you got it just in front of You. Do not miss the library room in!

I really enjoyed my visit to Cardiff castle, they have very informative audio guides and there is a lot to see, I bought the cheapest ticket and had access to the castle ruins, huge catapult, lots of walking areas and a number of regally decorated rooms in the house itself, a really good place to take kids to explore and... Lets start with the grounds - absolutely picturesque! Like a picture out of a storybook. The castle is obviously, [and most likely] restored. However, it had also been redecorated when it was purchased by the name I can't quite bring to mind at the moment. I was a little bummed, because I did expect to see historic pieces, but it... More

The Cardiff Castle is in the center of Cardiff and very convenient to shops and restaurants. The castle reflects 2,000 years of history and was given to the city of Cardiff. We toured this beautiful castle which took about an hour. This castle is filled with opulent decorated rooms. The clock tower is stunning. The Norman Keep has panoramic views... More

I have only ever been to Cardiff Castle as a day visitor, but, had the privilege of being a wedding guest in December! What a magical location! The marriage was in the basement of the castle which was superb, and very atmospheric, then we had drinks in the bar area next door, and then we had a wonderful meal in... More
