Cardiff Castle has had 2000 years of history, from Roman to medieval to a fantastic Victorian make-over. The grounds are beautiful, and there is a very good new interpretation centre and cafe that is nicely integrated into the ramparts of the outer wall. It may not be suitable for a baby, and one can't push a buggy round the medieval... more

I visited with my two children aged 1 and 8. There was nothing at all for my 1 year old. I was several times approached by staff and told about 'our buggy policy' and 'all the problems they've had' with them. The cafe was more expensive than London (where I live) I short, a complete waste of money and I... more

We have just had our first - and last - trip to Cardiff Castle. It was expensive and even though we took the guided tour was not in the least interesting! I find it hard to beleive that this castle is so old! Sorry but would not go again! Went on the open top bus and that was great! They... more

Spent a good couple hours in there but feel it was overpriced for a castle. Must say did not enjoy the short show which was way too loud and told us nothing that we hadn't read whilst waiting to go in. Too modern and not informative enough. My other gripe was the audio tour was confusing with its numbering system... more

Cardiff castle is conveniently situated at the centre of the city. It was lovely to soak up the sun in its beauiful grounds. The castle is well preserved and will not take more othan a coule of hours to get around. I did not think much of the video lounge though. more

Visited last week and Cardiff Castle was one of the best attractions I have seen. The guide was very good, he gave plenty of information and we had enough time to see the rooms without having to rush. Definately worth paying extra to get the guided tour as you see more rooms and after the guided tour you can go... more

The castle has been updated over the years so there is an old motte and bailey castle/keep, with 100 steps up to views over Cardiff, and also an historic house with beautifully decorated rooms similar to Castell Coch. The Arab room definitely has the "wow" factor. We took the audio guides round the whole site rather than the guided tour for... more

We went here on a satuday when no sport in Cardiff and also the day before St Davids Day. You must do the guided tour as its only 40 minutes and you can do the freeflow tour as well at your own pace ( The guided tours has extra rooms on it and lots of interesting information and is just... more

One reviewer didn't think Cardiff Castle was old. There are several sides to the site - the ancient, the old, and the newer. I would have to quote the guide book for details, but it's worth getting the book to learn the history that has taken place here since 55 BC. There are Roman excavations in the new gift shop... more

Cardiff Castle is a fun place to visit. The history is interesting and so are the rooms where the Marquess de Bute and his family lived. My 13 year old also had a great time exploring the grounds. We spent over 4 hours playing. more
