This mountain holds amazing views of the Rhymney Valley, Brecon Beacons, the Severn crossing as well as the Bristol Channel but like many other countryside accessible areas it's spoilt by the thoughtlessness of others who think that magic fairies come in the night and pick up their discarded coffee cups and broken bottles which is a nightmare for dog walkers... Caerphilly mountain is a location which is extremely popular with ramblers and families of all ages. The area is superb for its excellent views of the surrounding countryside and when the weather is good you can see as far as the Brecon Beacons to the north, and the channel and Somerset and Devon to the south.. It's stunning. Furthermore you... More

Free parking with a choice of several routes to enjoy roaming through the beautiful countryside. There is free parking and easy access by road from Cardiff & The valleys. The Mountain snack bar is very popular and worth a try if you like Snack bar food. Great place to walk the children or dogs..

We have been taking our disabled clients to Caerphilly Mountain Cafe every week for a treat, only to find out today stock in the sweets/pringles in the machine were 7 MONTHS out of date. Also staff checked backroom stock to say they are the same date. No stock turn over/stock check? are the fresh foods being checked? very disappointed on... More

Just a little way from the castle. There is free parking at the food place across from the trail. Lots of dog walkers on this path. View from the top is amazing.

Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar may or may not have healthy food but it certainly is tasty and filling. I used to go for a hike in the nearby hills and have a snack almost as an aside. Now, slightly less fit, I go for the occasional snack, usually a breakfast roll, with a 30 minute walk thrown in. Ok, there... More

Stunning views over Caerphilly and up to the RHYMNEY valley. Well worth a visit to the snack bar too. They serve delicious rolls/baguettes/fries. Great value for money too

Start at Cefn Onn Parc and take the pathon the right and walk up past the golf course and then left up to the ridgeway. Turn right and walk along the ridge, crossing Craig Road by the farm and following the footpath through the woods. You will come out opposite the Maenllwyd Pub in Rudri. It is about four miles...
