Came to Skomer as part of a photography workshop. Fantastic opportunities for a photographer particularly with all the puffins. There is one particular place where most of the puffins feed and this can sometimes get crowded with a lot of people (and a lot of long lenses!) so try and make it onto the island as early as possible on... I researched this well, by reading up on other trip advisors advice, which proved invaluable and meant a completely smooth and trouble free trip. Drive to Martin's Haven, we were there at 7am, and there were about 10 people already there. 50 people on the boat at a time and when we went 3 trips a day there, so get... More

Despite having been down on countless occasions to beautiful Pembrokeshire, we had never made to short boat trip over to Skomer before ( probably believing it might prove less appealing to our younger children than a day on the beach!) We turned up at 11.30 on a beautiful Saturday morning in June expecting ( from reading the reviews ) to... More

We went on a guided tour with the Wildlife Trust. This was on a Monday when the island is normally closed to the public. The boat was quite full as it was loaded with luggage for passengers bound for Skokholm. After a short boat trip we were met by a series of about 80 steps. I was puffing a bit... More

As many other reviewers have indicated, this is a fantastic island to visit if you have any interest in sea birds, and the puffins are obviously a great draw. I've seen and photographed them before on Lunga in Scotland, but never managed to see and photograph them with sand eels in their mouth. That box has now been well and... More

This place is truly incredible! We travelled 4-hours from the Marches and didn't really know what to expect. We were completely blown away by the beauty of the area we were staying in - West Hook Farm Camp Site (very clean and great views - really well run!). The camp site is only a 10-minute to the boats that cross... More

We took the short boat trip from Martin's Haven near Marloes village and spent 41/2 hours on the island which roughly measures 1mile by 1.8 miles. You need to get to the booking hut at Martin's Haven early (by 8am ish booking starts at 8:30am and it's first come first served with no pre-booking) if you want to get an... More

This island is absolutely fantastic. We were worried that we wouldn't see all the wildlife that was to be expected, but the experience was far better than we could ever have hoped for. There were puffins everywhere, not to mention the rest of the bird life. We also had the bonus of seeing porpoises and seals from the cliff tops.... More

A trip to Skomer should be on everyone's 'to do' list. That is if you like Puffins. Between April and July a short boat ride brings you to the island where you are immediately in Puffin territory (and Guillemots and Razorbills). A 20 min walk to 'The Wick' and you are surrounded by puffins - and I mean surrounded! Spend... More

This was a fantastic day out that exceeded all expectations! On the boat to the island we saw 2 porpoises. When on the island, we had incredible views of hundreds of puffins and guillemots. The puffins are pretty habituated and you can get very close to them (great for photography!!). We didn't manage to see any seals or owls but... More
