As I am now in my fifties and been up Snowdon a few times on the train, I thought it was about time I actually walked up it, so I could honestly say that I had conquired the highest mountain in England/Wales. I had heard that the new visitor centre had also opened, so on the 27th October 2009, my... more

It's well worth climbing to the top - it's a wonderful, unmissable experience. It was my first mountain climb and we missed the crowds by using a local guide - if we'd gone just with a map it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good. They picked out a quiet path and told us about the history, farming etc. Coming... more

A wonderful day in Snowdon was nearly ruined by the shocking snack bar provided at the top. I believe the cost of the "new" facility was £6 million and if true this is a real waste. We got off the train to find the only way out was through an already packed snack bar where people were queuing to place... more

Mount Snowdon stands at 3,560ft and is the highest mountain in Wales. The walk up the popular tourist path is the longest but easiest route to follow taking approximately 5- 6 hours. Starting your walk from Llanberis Mountain Railway Station, you take the road on the right and carry on walking to the end of the road where you will cross... more

Great mountain with 6 excellent routes to the top. However it can be ridiculously busy on the main paths (Llanberis and Pyg) and yesterday the quantities of litter on the mountain were appalling. We picked up some as we walked down but the National Park Authorities really need to take some action to educate visitors, encourage them to have more... more

Ascended to the summit by getting the Sherpa bus (route S1) from Llanberis to Pen Y Pass start point for the Pyg path. There are toilets, tourist info and a small cafe there. The route is about 4.5 miles to the summit and expect to take 2.5 - 3 hours to reach it, via a well marked path which varies... more

Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales at 3560 ft - small by other countries standards but still pretty big. To reach the top you can either walk or take the (expensive) train - we took the easy way and took the train up but decided to walk back down. If you decide to walk be warned... more
