A 45 minute trip on a horse drawn boat along the Llangollen canal with breathtaking views out across the valley and river. Totally peaceful journey, no engine noise or fumes, just the sound of lapping water, birds in the trees and horse hooves along the tow path - bliss. Our 2 yr old loved it and was able to stand... We booked this trip on the internet a few days before we got there, was looking forward to this trip but it was marred for me as we arrived a good half hour before we was due to get aboard and ended up getting on the boat one of the last!, unfortunatley a coach tour turned up with 26 people... Took the aqueduct trip along the canal (2 hours for £12.50 each), return by bus.The highlight of our trip was passing over the aqueduct but the trip would be vastly improved if you had time to alight the boat after traversing the aqueduct so that you could walk back & take pictures from below or on the towpath if you... Really relaxing way to see the acquaduct and canal. We were taken by bus from the wharf to join the canal boat and back again. More

I treated my partner to a self-drive barge trip last year as a treat for his birthday. We were really looking forward to it and, although we had never done anything like it before, the staff reassured me that it was fine for complete novices. I contacted tham a second time to confirm that this was the case and they... More

Good value for money to say we did not expect to be able to go accross the aquaduct on a barge. £12:50 per adult and it was 2 hours in total. Hot drinks and snacks on board well worth the visit. More

The bit over the aqueduct is what this trip is about and it is well worth it for that alone. The rest of the trip is pleasant enough but pretty uninteresting. Commentary was OK. Bloke selling refreshments on the boat was a top man! You have a bus ride one way and the boat trip the other. More

During our stay in Wales, we went on both the 45 minute horse-drawn canal boat trip, and the 2 hour canal boat trip over the aquaduct to Froncysyllte. The pace is slow and gentle, and with the horse-drawn trip it is sooooo quiet. Truly peaceful and allows you to take in the beauty of your surroundings. The Aquaduct trip was... More
