Interesting old castle in North Wales. My wife & I went with 3 others for about 1/2 day. Spent the rest of the day in the town of Conwy. the castle sits at one end of the small town and the town is (or once was) totally enclosed by a wall attached to the castle. Built by the English as... More

i had come on a day's visit to Llandudno and decided to pay a visit to this castle nearby, never knowing that it would be ine thing etched in my memory forever. the ruined but firm walls, the spiral staircases of the spires, the walk over the walls just made my day ! apart from the castle, you get a... I loved being able to walk all around the walls of the castle, and climb all the towers. The setting near the water is also superb. Unfortunately the signage was poor and there wears no free self-guided tour material - I think you have to purchase the guidebook (3-4 pounds I think) to really get a good idea of the... More

The entry fee was covered by the CADW pass we had bought. We found the castle very well maintained and easy to explore. We loved being able to climb to the top of each tower (there were many). The views were great even though each tower involved spiral stairways; made of concrete as the original stone steps had been replaced... More

The Conwy castle is small, and there is no guided tour- they sell a tour book, but not a great value. Do Caernofan first to get more in-depth knowledge from their reasonable guided tour (2.50). You can pass on Conwy (although the gift shop was good). More

Combine a trip to the castle with walking round the town walls. The children will love pretending to be archers guarding the town and the castle. Not completely accessible for less able bodied persons but enjoyable all the same. More
