The size of the castle is amazing - totally huge - all the castle walls are still there surrounding the town. And is some areas you can really see just how thick they are... it is a ruin but you can imagine how amazing it would have been. More

We love a good castle but this was the first with our 2year old daughter. She absolutely loved it, even climbed the 149 steps the the top of one of the turrets shouting "this way mummy" the whole way up. This was my second visit to this castle and my family and I enjoyed the experience. This castle is so well preserved considering its age. You can spend several hours here learning about the history and exploring the walls of the castle. A must see destination in Wales! More

You can easily see it was built to be a royal residence, but somehow it lacks the atmosphere that can be found in some of the smaller castles in Northern Wales. Views from the towers are amazing and the Museum interesting. They have occasional events including a visiting Shakesperian Theatre company who perform outdoors(they are really good) and local choirs etc. It is an excellent example of a castle from this period and the staff are informative and very friendly. Only negative point, not very disabled friendly. More
