Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

Went to Devils Bridge on the steam railway this week, and what a wonderful way to travel, first class of course. Well organised, punctual, and all you would expect from a proper railway. Stunning scenery along the way added to the experience.

We visited the Railway as part of a group of 18. The rolling stock and loco were very well turned out, very clean and comfortable. The lineside buildings at the halts are very well built and finished. The Railway offered us a shed visit on our trip. The staff talked very enthusiastically about what they are doing and their plans... More

My boyfriend and I went to visit a friend who lives in Aberystwyth last weekend, and I'd seen this on a list of things to do so we decided to go. I did feel it was slightly expensive for what it was, but as long as it goes towards the upkeep of the railway etc then it's probably worth it!... More

Travelled the route (two adults, two dogs) 4th May 2015. Staff at ticket office very helpful and friendly. Train trip very enjoyable. Walks at the top of the vale led to great views of waterfalls and scenery. One hour for the trip each way. Recommended as enjoyable outing for all.

Nothing to dislike, Great for old, young and dogs. You can get a return trip from Devil's Bridge to Aberystwyth or the other way round. Trip takes about an hour each way through deep cuttings and fantastic views

Travelled up the valley on the steam train. Fantastic views on the journeys both ways. And a visit to the Devils bridge and walk to the Minach falls a good middle part of the day. The drivers and all those working on the railway obviously care deeply about the engines, polishing them on arrival. A lovely day trip.

Beautiful trip of just the right length (about one hour) from the centre of Aberystwyth to the top of a hill, this old mining train route passes through some gorgeous scenery. Train is, as others have said, kept beautifully shiny and peeps at regular intervals along the trip. It's a 60cm narrow guage train and track, so not the Gordon-Henry... More

Thanks for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your trip liked the experience. As a working museum, every penny raised through ticket sales goes straight back into restoring the railway and keeping it going for future generations. We are glad you found it a worthwhile experience. More

This is not the cheapest day out although they do say "you get what you pay for". Our small family travelled on the railway 23/04/2015. The scenery is breath taking, the carriages are really well kept and fresh and clean(owners please do not forget to wipe the plush leather seats as they become dirty from the steam) All of the...
