Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

This is a late review, as a family we experienced this fantastic train ride in August 2015. We caught this train from Devils Bridge to Aberystwyth, we all love the period of steam trains, especially our daughter being a massive Harry Potter fan. The train journey left left us all in awe of the breathtaking views. We were so lucky... More

We had a great trip on the santa train, and think we enjoyed it nearly as much as the children! All very professionally done with lots of friendly staff and a really nice present for the children. Will come again next year.

I'd like to write this in Welsh, but Trip Advisor don't allow that, which is terrible. Must be the best Santa Special we've been on. Staff were all excellent, the story-teller was very engaging, and Santa was great. It's very important that Santa can speak Welsh, and he was entertaining. The journey went quickly, and the whole thing felt professional,... More

First time on a steam train and a chance to enjoy the Welsh Countryside Being winter it was very wet and cold and I would recommend having gloves, scarves and hand warmers. The carriage is fun although a little uncomfortable. Fabulous scenery and well worth the trip

Many thanks for your review. Yes it can get a little chilly up in the Rheidol Valley in the winter. Our carriages are heated during the colder months. We are pleased to hear you had an enjoyable trip to the railway. More

I was visiitng my daughter at university and we both wanted to see a little more of the countryside around Aberystwyth, this trip was perfect. We were blessed with a sunny, autumn day and the colours of the trees and views across the Vale of Rheidol were stunning. The walk around Devils Bridge is lovely and we enjoyed refreshments at... We have now visited and taken the train from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge and back again several times. The cafe at Devil's Bridge serve good food and snacks. Our nearly 3 year old son totally loves this as a day out. He adores trains and we've taken him on many here and abroad but this is his favourite of all.... More

My heart sunk when our Arriva train pulled into Aberystwyth station and small person spotted the steam train getting ready to go. Initially I really wasn't up for paying £29 to take me and a small person on a rattly train in the rain to spend 2 hours in a place with nothing for kids to do. Persistence overcame resistance... With gift aid this trip to include 2 dogs cost me £48. I did get a voucher to spend in there shop or café for 15%. £6.30. I spent it at there café, thank god, 2 teas and 2 slices of cake £7.30. The steam train journey was expellant. 12 miles to see the devils cauldron, until you find out... More
