We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all. « less

The journey takes about an hour each way with a one hour break at Devil'd Bridge. Passes through some spectacular scenery and through quite large gatherings of Red Kite birds of prey.

We went to Eden valley to look around the dams that provide water for the Midlands then we thought we would carry on and drive down to Aberystwyth then we came to Devils Bridge and around the corner we came across this lovely Steam railway Vale of Rheidol Railway, which took us all the way to Aberystwyth, we spent a... I travelled in August on this narrow gauged railway that runs from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge and passes through 8 other stations/halts a distance of some 12 miles, and climbing 700 feet. There are semi-open and closed carriages if the weather is not too good. You can hop on or off at any of the stopping points, but most go... More

Small gauge steam railway that runs between Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge - about 12 miles and takes an hour. Splendid scenery and lovely views, modest price. Not to be missed!

We had a wonderful day on the light railway. Two of our children travelled for free, being under three, but for four adults and a four year old, return travel to Devil's Bridge was £78. My sons loved the steam engine, as did my steam fan husband and dad. Access was a little restricted for my disabled mum, but the... More

The narrow gauge steam loco pulls its train through some of West Wales's finest scenery descending 700 feet to the coast at Aberystwyth, The locos are gleaming and give as a real sense of our transport heritage. Views are spectacular, particularly on the descent from Devil's Bridge. At Devils' Bridge, the Hafod Hotel offers good food at a fair price... More

3 Adults and 2 youngsters and a Dog return journey. The weather was not ideal but we had a choice of open or closed carriages, the staff were all friendly, all stations were well kept, the price was reasonable.

Felt like I was being transported back to the olden times! The steam train was fantastic and when we got to the end of the line, the area was signposted well to show where the waterfalls and devils bridge were.
