Obviously this is primarily a place of interest to those who like Elgar's music and are interested in his life. Although Elgar lived in many places during his lifetime, this cottage, where he was born, is the focus for exhibits from throughout his lifetime. The cottage is beautifully preserved, with an English cottage garden, which has a bench with a... More

Very good value. You get an audio set with head phones so as you go around you put in the number shown on the display and the items will be explained to you. It plays excerpts from his works. Watched a short video first. Then went to his house and garden. Bronze statue of him on a seat at the... More

The Elgar Birthplace Museum is a lovely place with each room more fascinating than the next but the loveliest of all was the apple orchard next to the car park.

From our first arrival in the well designed car park, to the lovely welcome by knowledgeable , friendly staff, this was going to prove a very worthwhile visit. The free audio phones + reasonable entry charge for seniors of £6.50 pp meant that we got the maximum benefit from the visit. The house and garden are small and modest, but... More

We found this visit very moving. It was thoughtfully laid out giving you a real insight into the man as well as the musician. The weather was sunny and warm enabling us to really appreciate the garden. Staff were not only helpful but also knowledgeable. The shop had a great variety of things to chose from ranging from expensive to... More

Interesting to see where the great man was born - very humble really. The staff were pleasant and welcoming. The museum had a rather jumpy A/V presentation. We also experienced problems with our audio headsets. There were some very interesting and unique items in the various exhibits, although not always well displayed. The house is small with rather creaky floorboards... More

We visited Elgar's birthplace museum on a sunny day in June. The staff/volunteers were very welcoming and knowledgeable and the visitor centre was interesting but my favourite was the little birthplace cottage and lovely garden. Walk down to the bottom of the garden to see a life size sculpture of Elgar sitting on a bench looking out over the wonderful... More

A good place to learn more about Elgar's life and music. Very nice garden, house and visitor centre. The statue of Elgar on a bench in the garden is great fun.

Lovely little place, a pice of history for a great Englishman. If you know Elgar's music, and even the most non musical person will have heard some of his music, to visit his birthplace house was a treat.
