A model of its kind: multiple approaches to the life & work of Elgar before the home itself

As a musician , I tend to find related opportunities compelling. Yet there's much to be learned here about the best way to run any small museum of its kind: compacting and diffusing so much biographical information and music samplings into a sensibly compelling experience. I learned that there was much beyond what I knew of Elgar that is well... More

A very well-organised museum with a new wing covering the life of Elgar and his music. An audio guide is available to enhance your experience. The old house is next door which is faithful to the earliest period of Elgar's life. There is an excellent cottage garden to be enjoyed if you can visit in summer. Attached is a garden... More

we visited here because it was a rainy day. It's £7.50 per adult to get in. You get a headset with this. The place is small but staff are friendly. The gardens around the house are lovely. Doesn't take that long to get around. Expected more is all.

I went to visit Elgar's birthplace with my mum but would recommend this attraction for all music lovers. Beautiful gardens surround the house and the staff are extremely helpful and informative - they clearly love their jobs.

Whether interested in his music or merely curious, this is a delightful museum to visit. The Visitor Centre is small and compact yet offers some fascinating artefacts from Elgar's life. I was particularly interested in the large volume showing his musical score - can't remember what the piece was, but wonderful nonetheless. It is a rare opportunity to see the... More

Not busy so a very comfortable visit watching the video , exhibits and visiting the house and garden. The Audio commentary with music was very informative. Learnt loads .

This is a wonderful place, full of information and music. An audio guide is included in the price and well worth using taking advantage of. The museum is in two parts, the new area being wheelchair friendly but the cottage, not so. There is a modern area that you enter first and here you can watch a video that I... More

Loved the headphones and music aspect as we went round. The new visitor centre compliments the cottage perfectly. Great volunteer staff, most helpful and knowledgeable. Some outside, garden worth spending time in, so pick a dry day.

We visited this delightfully museum when we were in the Worcester area recently and really enjoyed it. The garden at The Cottage is especially nice with Elgar's statue sitting on a bench looking out to his beloved Malvern Hills. There is so much of interest that it is impossible to take it all in! The cafe is small but you... More
