I drive a minibus for a charity providing holidays for the elderly. I visit the hop pocket most weeks, and find there is something for everyone. Womens fashions, hotter shoes, art gallery, craft work, and do visit paddy in the wine shop where he will be happy to give you a free tasting. There is a lovely cafe, all the... More

My Mum, Sister and I visited The Hop Pocket yesterday for a morning out. Very festive with lots of unusual gifts for Christmas. We went to the restaurant for lunch. Yum!! Ample portions with home cooked food. My homemade lasagne was delicious, and the mushroom and bacon quiche also very nice. My Mum had the coriander and parsnip soup which... More

I have taken my mother here twice now and have spent quite a few hours looking around, I like all the different things on sale, my mother enjoys sending cards to friends and there is not short supply to choose from here! They sell Lyme Bay wines, now they are worth travelling for on their own :-)

Looking at the hop pocket leaflet in our holiday cottage I was expecting a good shopping experience. Unfortunately this was not so. Garden centre, plants very expensive, inside some nice crafts, including handmade items. The garden centre cafe was way over priced, though the cakes we had were tasty. The other areas of the Hop pocket was a big let... More

~ Brief review: Offensive meal, partially useless staff, awful value, bland environment and mediocre shopping 'experience' to use the term loosely. ~ Detailed review: As it was a Sunday, we assumed that the restaurant in the Hop Pocket garden centre would be serving some reasonably good food, so we took a shot at it. We assumed wrong. The five of... More

Went for a family day out on a Sunday afternoon and was hoping for a bite to eat. Sunday lunch is only served until 2pm. And the other good options on the menu weren't available on a Sunday. So all a family of 5 had to choose from was 3 sandwich flavours and 1 flavour of soup! So we had... More

We had lunch in the cafe with business colleagues yesterday and had the "special" Ploughmans. This included a tasteless (heavy on the crust) piece of pork pie, one cherry tomato, one pickled onion, a small pot of chutney, a couple of pieces of apple (that even had the sticker still on it, had it even been washed!) and a flat... We called here on a trip out one Sunday morning. We purchased a pot of tea, slice of tray bake and a slice of Victoria sandwich from the cafe. The food was well over priced. The cake was on the very small side and when I complained to the counter assistant I was told that all caked are pre marked.... More

The sevice provided by the staff employed in the the Hop Pocket cafe was 'unskilled' and very poor. Consequent to the young lady behind the counter allocating the same table to two different sets of dinners we were shunted - without any apology being offered - from one table to another. No one came to ask if our meal was... More

Called by for Sunday Lunch. General hygiene is poor, cutlery was grubby and glasses smeared, table we sat at needed a good wipe with some soapy water to get rid of the sticky feel to it. Cobwebs were hanging in abundance on the ceiling above where we were sat. There were a number of staff on duty but only one... More
