Spetchley is a garden for all tastes containing one of the biggest private collections of plant varieties outside the major botanical gardens. Spetchley is not a formal paradise of neatly manicured lawns or beds but rather a wondrous display of plants, shrubs and trees woven into a garden of many rooms and vistas. It is certainly an ever changing garden and one undergoing many changes. The Revival Project is in its infancy; a ten year project aimed at reviving Spetchley's wonderful legacy. Please follow us to see how we get on and come and visit to view this wonderful garden and watch its transformation. « less

Even though I'm not the keenest gardener I found walking the grounds to be an absolute pleasure. The grounds are lovely and they obviously go to a lot of trouble to make sure the gardens always have a lot to keep you interested.

As a Friend of Spetchley Park, we visit often and find new experiences each time. Plants on sale are unusual and food and drink at cafe very enjoyable.

Thank you for your review and for becoming a friend of the gardens. Becoming a friend allows you to visit the gardens throughout the summer on open days as well as many other rewards. I am also glad you enjoyed our tea room, run by Chanterelles, it is full of local produce, the food is very good and the ambiance... More

My Husband & I visited this place on a recent trip to the U.K. I loved its informal aspects of the different gardens, with something different around each corner, a lovely lake and expansive lawn area, some magnificent mature trees. The roses are so beautiful, the staff and gardeners are so helpful, we were there also on a family history... More

Thank you so much for your review and very kind words. We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit. I am interested to note your view that Spetchley is less of a formal garden. It is a refreshingly different in that it's many "rooms" offer visitors a fantastic array of beautiful and rare plants in a natural and free flowing... More

I love this place and come often with my daughter, as we have bought a Friends membership. Disappointed therefore to have to sidestep some fresh dog poo the other day and see a dog running freely through the gardens. I was told that one of the Berkeley family walked her dog through the gardens (admittedly it was getting close to... More

Thank you for your reveiw on your visit to the gardens. I am sorry that it was soured by the arrival of dog poo. We are very careful to ensure that any dog poo is cleared away so that it does not affect the visitors experience. We are also very careful to ensure that any exposure to family pets is... More

The gardens here are nice, but they need a lot of attention as there are so many weeds around. The tearoom is nice, but very expensive for what you get !!

Thank you for your feedback which we value greatly. Spetchley is a beautiful garden but it is not a formal garden. It is a plantsman's garden and therefore emphasis is placed on the plant collections rather than the precise neatness of the beds. We also have a very small, valuable team of four full time gardeners and 5 volunteers to... More

Thank you for your very kind words. Spetchley's attraction is its vast array of rare plants, shrubs and veteran trees both in the garden and the surrounding the park land. It is a place to see plants thriving in their natural environment. There is plenty of space at Spetchley, almost 30 acres, and so after a trip around the garden... More

Thank you very much for your kind words about Spetchley. It is a plantperson's garden, full of wonderful plants. It has an old charm and quaintness about it that you do not find in many gardens. As you have seen it is not a perfectly manicured garden. We are lucky to have four full time gardeners who have to look... More

My husband used to fish in the lake when he was a boy and he wanted to go back and see what had changed. I just wanted to visit the gardens and I was not disappointed. We wandered around and couldn't believe how lovely the gardens are. Hubby relived his childhood too!!! So good we will definitely be going back... More

This garden is a horticulturist's paradise. The peonies, roses, hostas, mighty oak trees, rhododendrons, palms, rock gardens, sunken melon houses, wisteria, horse pool and grand lake are just some of the wonderful things to experience at Spetchley gardens. If you want to see hedges, lawns and paths tidied and clipped within an inch of their lives then this garden may... More
