Friendly, brilliant for kids, fascinating for adults, hands-on, pleasantly low-key and actually inexpensive in this day and age. You realise that you're wandering freely around a working aircraft maintainance hanger - restoration work is actually going on in the corner - rather than progressing around a formal museum. Certainly the highlight of a nine-year-old's holiday with plenty of memories for... More

Found this collection on a speculative visit tot the airfield with my grandsons. They thought it was brilliant and had a seriously good time 'playing' on all the visitor accessible exhibits. Great fun on a wet day. Lots of hands on exhibits.

Spent a lovely few hours here this afternoon with my husband, who had a ball getting in the cockpits, despite being 6'7"! Talk about kid in a sweet shop 😊 lovely guides, fantastically hands on exhibits and lots of information about the planes. A hidden gem! Please visit if you haven't already done so as your entry fee ensures continued... More

You've been to collections where you can look at the aircraft. You've been to ones where you can peer into the cockpits through a thick plastic panel. Here, you get to climb up ladders and haul yourself into the pilot seats, push the throttle forward and tune the radios. Great fun and ever-so-slightly scary when you feel how cramped the... More

Great fun, and so nice to be so hands on and to be able to climb in cockpits etc. Really unlike most air museums. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. A fun time had by all.

What a magnificent museum! We took our three children (2, 4 & 7) and they loved it. Got dressed up in flying overalls and helmets and then spent two hours clambering in and out of cockpits, pressing every button they could find and letting their imagination run wild and inventing endless scenarios. At the same time, the kind, patient, passionate... More

Absolutely fantastic staff who really bring the exhibits to life telling tales of daring do and the history of the aircraft. They are very knowledgeable on local history and... More

Take the little ones, and the bigger ones to this aviation museum, it's great, they will have the opportunity to climb in the aircrafts and helicopters, press buttons pull switches and have a thoroughly good time. The volunteers are very informative and helpful as well as very pleasant. There is a little shop to buy books and other aviation material.... More
