Excellent afternoon out. Fantastic collection - my personal favourite - the harrier - along with the ongoing restoration of the Jaguar. Unlike most museums you can sit in pretty much all of the cockpits, flick the switches and turn the knobs, and really feel like a fighter or helicoptor pilot. The simulators are a lot of fun also! Very friendly... More

On route to Stone henge we decided to explore the other tourists attractions. Boscombe down aviation appeared. As real aviation fans we decided to give it a go. It was easy to find we a sat nav (although not sign posted). So glad we did, the centre is a real hands on experience, you can sit in the cockpits and... More

We had a wonderful visit. The major difference between this and many other museums is that there are more signs saying you CAN TOUCH rather than you can't. Being able to sit in various original cockpits and mess with the controls is something that even a surly teenage girl had to admit was "pretty awesome". Kids and adults alike will... More

Definitely worth a visit.we visited today after a recommendation from a friend my children aged 4 and 7 absolutely loved and so did we. We have visited many plane, military and various other museums and I think this is probably the only one we have been to where you can actually get inside the planes and experience what it is really... We found this gem of a museum when visiting Old Sarum airfield to view the last flight of the Vulcan Bomber. So many interesting displays of aviation history. You can sit in the cockpit of many old fast jets on display. (These are cockpits only). Some even have instrument lights and radio broadcast to add to the atmosphere. You can... More

The museum has in its possession all sorts of little nick-nacks and models from aviation history, and these are interesting, but the main draw has got to be the extensive collection of aircraft husks and cockpits, most of which is very-hands on. Provided they treat them with respect, visitors can actually sit in the crew seats and handle the controls.... More

Well worth a visit. Such a great mix of aviation items and you can get into cockpits of planes and helicopters - which was actually REALLY fun (even if you are not that into aircraft). Simple information sheets displayed around the collection. A little hard to find using Sat Nav. It's easier to access via 'Portway' (road?) and turn into... More

I love museums like this, run by passionate vounteers that know their stuff and doing their bit to keep these objects in the public conciousness. The museum itself doesn't have too many complete aircraft, but its USP has to be the number of exihibits where you can climb in to the cockpits and try to imagine what it was like... More

There is so much hands on with the planes here that my two year old and 42 year old were enthralled here for hours. The staff/ volunteers were amazing. They clearly love what they do and you would be surprised at what gems they have hidden in these hangers. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Salisbury. We decided... More

What a wonderful experience this place is. Had a family trip to Salisbury and found this while looking around. Not sign posted but if you head for the old Sarum airfield you'll stumble across it. Makes a change to actually be able to climb into various cockpits than being kept away behind ropes. Can actually get a feel of what... More
