We went to the cafe at the rear before looking around the house, it was very tranquil indeed. The house can get a little busy at times but it's well worth a look. Not one of the large house but a medium size and nice to take in especially the room where the painting was done.

The house is in the Cathedral Close and well worth factoring into a Salisbury visit. Allow about 60 mins plus tea/coffee time. There is a small but delightful café in the garden. The House is a bit rambling behind a formal façade. The rooms have been sympathetically decorated in period colour schemes and for furniture buffs a real treasure trove.... More

Good way to spend a couple of hours with stunning gardens and plenty of grounds to walk around. A delicious afternoon tea in amenable surroundings.

The main interest for us was the gentleman who bought the house and donated it to the National Trust the same day.His is a fascinating story and the library has a series of dummy book titles to tell it-I say no more you must visit to see for yourself.Hopefully you will meet the very well informed and enthusiastic gentleman on... Loved the peace of the building and the volunteers in the house and the friendliness of the tea room staff.

Set in elegant Cathedral Close in Salisbury, is this beautiful Queen Anne style house with it's splendid oak staircase. It is small compared to some National Trusts properties but delightful all the same. It houses a collection of very nice turnbull drinking glasses, some of which are quite exquisite with their intricate stems. We were lucky and visited on a... More

One of our favourite places to see. House is set in the close and gives an aura of tranquility when walking around the house. The walled garden is my favourite spot with a nice little cafe serving quality food.

In all the years I have been visiting Salisbury, this was the first time I actually visited this National Trust property. What an interesting place it is well worth the visit.

I went here with a friend (we are members of the National Trust). I really enjoyed looking around the house. The collection of old drinking glasses was amazing. The house is quite small, so you can look around it in an hour - you don't need to set aside a whole day for it. We were lucky with the weather... More
