The house, rich with fine antiques and handsome paintings, will delight even the most jaded tourist. Don't miss the altogether charming garden with its amazing array of unusual and handsome plantings and flowers. It happened that the afternoon we visited a fine string quartet was playing Mozart in the garden and tea was being served. The total effect was delightfully... More

Mompesson is in marked contrast to most NT stately homes. This is a comparatively modest house occupying a fine site in the City Close with good views of the cathedral. Friendly guides and a small cafes with toilets. Walk in admission is cheap compared with other Salisbury visitor attractions but it does make sense to join the NT as one... More

As NT members my husband and I visited here on a Saturday. There are lovely guides in all the rooms who know their stuff. An interesting house to look around and a pretty garden. It's an oasis of calm away from the shoppers; one which I can thoroughly recommend.

This is a very sparse NT property compared to most and I can't help thinking it would make a far better private home to be honest!! Not many artefacts apart from some pretty glasses, a Sense and Sensibility display in a room that was boarded off to disguise the shabby decor behind and a small garden that is probably quite... as always the National Trust have done an excellent job preserving this house for us to see. It gives a good idea of how the gentlefolk of Salisbury lived in a bygone time. Excellent cafe in the garden

Across the green from the Cathedral in Salisbury this building was used to film the Emma Thompson version of the Jane Austin novel- Sense and Sensibility 20 years ago. The house has a well looked after feel and has a collection of glassware through the ages with various rooms to view as well. The Jane Austin exhibition is on this... More

Lovely little National Trust house and garden. Lots of explanations throughout. The house was used for a film shoot of Pride and Prejudice from years ago so has a lot of pictures from this around also. The garden is small but perfect and gave us a couple of ideas to use. The tea room a tad sad but the older... More
