Set in elegant Cathedral Close in Salisbury, is this beautiful Queen Anne style house with it's splendid oak staircase. It is small compared to some National Trusts properties but delightful all the same. It houses a collection of very nice turnbull drinking glasses, some of which are quite exquisite with their intricate stems. We were lucky and visited on a... More

One of our favourite places to see. House is set in the close and gives an aura of tranquility when walking around the house. The walled garden is my favourite spot with a nice little cafe serving quality food.

In all the years I have been visiting Salisbury, this was the first time I actually visited this National Trust property. What an interesting place it is well worth the visit.

I went here with a friend (we are members of the National Trust). I really enjoyed looking around the house. The collection of old drinking glasses was amazing. The house is quite small, so you can look around it in an hour - you don't need to set aside a whole day for it. We were lucky with the weather... More

Mompesson House is a smaller NT property with a small enclosed garden behind. There's a small tearoom in the stables. The house is a most enjoyable visit, and the garden, in good weather, is lovely. Worth a pause, a sit and a rest looking at the flowers and chatting to the garden volunteers.

This house is still furnished as it was when occupied and is stunning. The staff are knowledgeable and interesting. It is small and you walk round with a printed guide of the rooms. The tea room in the garden is very good but limited in choice but more than adequate. The relatively small town garden is very pretty and had... More

This is only a small house, but its interesting. Nice displays of china and glasses and decorative ceilings in some rooms. This house was used in the filming of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. It has a nice little garden. There were lovely smelling roses when we went. There's a lovely little tea room with lush cakes and sandwiches,.

Lovely NT property adjacent to Salisbury Cathedral. They were celebrating the 20th anniversary of the filming of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice which was filmed at the house in 1985 with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman. A small exhibition was upstairs. Lovely small garden at the rear with a cosy tea room with excellent cakes!
