House is set in a lovely square in the centre of Salisbury near the Abbey. Well worth a visit as the house is beautiful and the gardens are lovely too. There is a cafe/tea room in the garden which is nice. It is not one of the National Trusts larger properties but well worth a visit.

The National Trust have maintained Mompesson House in impeccable order. This is largely due to a well motivated and immaculate staff who are always to hand with great enthusiasm. Mompesson house is a humble family home designed and decorated as a mini palatial residence and it works. There is a fine collection of antique glass displayed in the dining room... More

Popped in here as we had a few hours to spare. As with most National Trust houses, there are enthusiastic volunteers who will tell you anything you wish to know as you wend your way around the various rooms of the house, which helps to explain the history. Have a wander around the small but lovely garden and admire the... More

Unfortunately the house as just closing as we entered but catching a brief glimpse of the furniture and rooms as we walked through to the cafe we thought the house quite grand. The tea and scones were delicious and the garden really is quite lovely.

The house is a short distance from the Cathedral and is well worth seeing. The volunteers here made a huge difference to our visit: they were very welcoming and explained a lot of what we saw. The house has a very pleasant small garden (small is relative...) with a tea room. However, the highlight for me was a collection of... More

As usual, NT come up with the goods, at last they are allowing people to take pictures inside but it's the garden with the overflowing beds that did it for me this time.

We had been once before to Mompesson House, an 18th century Queen Anne manor house on Cathedral Square, in Salisbury. It is not large or very grand, just a good example of a home of the provincial gentry. It does not have its original furnishings, but does contain some interesting pieces of furniture. Its main attractions are the Turnbull collection... More

The house and contents were beautiful and staff helpful. NT coffee and cake excellent as usual! I chose to purchase a watercolour of Stonehenge by a local artist and was told I would have to pay in the house. I duly went back into the house escorted by a staff member from the cafe. It took about 20 minutes to... More

The house is a lovely piece so history. It has been beautifully restored and furnished and it also has many delightful surprises in each room. The guides are charming and very interested in telling stories and the history of the house.
