Across the green from the Cathedral in Salisbury this building was used to film the Emma Thompson version of the Jane Austin novel- Sense and Sensibility 20 years ago. The house has a well looked after feel and has a collection of glassware through the ages with various rooms to view as well. The Jane Austin exhibition is on this... More

Lovely little National Trust house and garden. Lots of explanations throughout. The house was used for a film shoot of Pride and Prejudice from years ago so has a lot of pictures from this around also. The garden is small but perfect and gave us a couple of ideas to use. The tea room a tad sad but the older... More

This is a nice enough building close to the cathedral. There's a Sense and Sensibility theme as scenes from the recent film were shot here, but for me the stand out exhibit was two large vitrine display cases of beautiful 17th & 18th century drinking glasses. Having a modest interest in the subject and being unaware of the existence of... More

Small Queen Anne House house built in 1701. We are National Trust members and stopped off in Salisbury to make a purchase to save on postage seeing that we were en route on the way home from Yeovil. Car parking was for two hours (quite expensive near the city centre; we must go back to this city and do the... More

This house is so interesting and full of history. The guides knew their stuff and there was lots to see. There were cabinets full of beautiful glasses. The garden was relaxing. The weather was perfect.

We wandered over to here after visiting 'Arundells' (reviewed separately) and spent a good hour looking over this nice, elegant and comfortable Queen Anne house. All the rooms are tastefully furnished with fine furniture and paintings, and beautiful ceilings. I loved it. Especially fascinating was the Turnbull Collection of English 18th-Century drinking glasses. Each room had a knowledgeable steward and... More

This is a delightful Queen Anne town house on the edge of the green across from the Cathedral. Not huge, but very interesting as it still feels "lived in" and intimate. We were there on a chilly day and it was wonderful to be invited to sit down in front of the fire in the library... we had to stop... More

A calm and quiet little café, always a treat. Love their sandwiches, a pleasure to sit in the garden after a walk around the house.

We go to a lot of National Trust houses and had never ventured into Mompesson House before. The house is small and a bit grotty. If I had paid for the experience I would want my money back.
